After disonnecting my service, Dish Network claimed they owned the equipment that they had repeatedly charged me for because 'it's my equipment". Here's my note to the credit collection agency:

I have repeatedly received an erroneous notice of debt to your company. When I entered into a verbal contract with Dish Network, I was informed that the equipment that they provided would be mine to keep. Each time I called for service on the equipment, it was confirmed that I owned the equipment and that because the equipment was mine, I would need to pay for the service calls and any repairs required. This occurred on two occasions and the charge was one hundred dollars each time. When the time came to end service from Dish Network, they informed me that they wanted the equipment back. I told them the history of our agreement and they told me that they did not have any paperwork to back up their claim that THEY owned the equipment. In reality, the receivers and remotes are completely useless to me, but since they are mine "to so with as I wish" (as quoted from one of the original Dish sales people) I decided not to return them to Dish Network, especially since it would cost me to do so. If on the other hand, Dish Network would like to claim ownership of the equipment, they should also claim responsibility for maintenance of such equipment. I am ready to ship the equipment back to them as soon as they refund my repair fees of two hundred dollars. If you are the correct agents to go about collecting this debt from Dish Network on my behalf, please go ahead and do so and keep me apprised of the progress. I appreciate your help in clearing up this matter promptly.
