eHarmony DID give a FREE Trial Period December 2007!

AUTHOR: Helene - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 05, 2008

I heard on my local AM Radio station that eHarmony was going to give a free trial period, And I feel sure it was three days "so that you wouldn't have to sepnd the holiday alone"which is what I was going to have to do and I dont like holidays anyway since I am the only surviving member of my immediate family!

In the remote rural area where I live, meeting people is just not an option and everybody where I work part-time is either much younger than me or they are married and NOBODY is romance matrial fo rme in there!

So I thought it would be a good deal and I signed up.

DAY ONE - Apparently the clock started running when I signed up. I didn't pay any money because it is supposed to be FREE. Besides, I think, since all the international terrorist and hackers could access this information, I NEVER put my financial information online!

DAY TWO- - The matches start coming. My e-mail box is FLOODED with all these matches. Supposedly Attorneys with Doctorates in Jurisprudence from Harvard who are counsels of huge international conglomerates, all sorts of attorneys and college professors and a couple of medical professionals thrown in the mix. The type of people I would be intellectually perfect with to say nothing of a secure financal future. Although I was not in it initially for the money! I start replying to the matches. THEY LET YOU PICK OUT SOME QUESTIONS TO SEND TO THE MATCHES.
And that is as "free "as it gets.

Some of these guys were just TOO GOOD TO BE REAL! And I don't think they were.

DAY THREE - More matches but NO REPLIES. So I keep sending out the same d**n questions.

I start getting spammed that my "match" wants me to contact him and anser these urgent communications. And so I answer the questions and attempted to send them back.

OOPS! Houston we have a problem!

It seems that I now have to PAY BIG BUCKS to respond to the ad from someone I am NOT EVEN SURE EXISTS! A month's membership will be the equivalent of a month's worth of groceries for me! No can do. I was disabled in 2003 and don't have the cash to throw around. But I was curious.

Well,it so happens that I used to be a prviate investigator.
And some of the professionals listed in these ads lived in very small towns and from there, it was extremely easy to find them and where they did business and I managed to do that for three of them.

Turns out that apparently two don't exist and one of them " a lawyer" was very shocked that someone would contact him beyond whatever games he wanted to play or that he was using e-Harmony to play ---maybe his WIFE read it--- that according to the "THIS MATCH CLOSED" that appeared by his name shortly after I contacted him. Or it could have been bogus. Maybe a friend or an enemy gave out his name to the matchmaking folks without his consent. I had no way to know.

And they had no way to know i was really who I said I was either, come to think of it.
All I know that the ad said they woudl match you up FREE with someone.

And all I did was get some names thrown at me.

THAT is NOT FREE.

I interpreted it as a RIP OFF and can just imagine what would have happened if I had sent them my grocery money!

I then consulted THE RIPOFF REPORT and was pleased to see that I had done the right thing to check these folks out.

Like I said, people who prey upon the elderly, children and the lonely have a special place in HELL!

I was VERy lonely for the holidays BUT I wasn't hungry over the holidays as well...

Now I am going to have to ban the spam from filling up my mailbox and preventing more useful and practical communications!

I have never known E-Harmony to give a 7 day free trial. Yahoo does and so did Match.com. Secondly I to asked for a refund and recieved it. Their customer service department is open 24/7 and very friendly. I do agree with others that say they don't match people and continue to send the same people. I am a massage therapist therefore I shouldn't be that hard to match considering I'm an easy, going person with lot's of loving energy. I only recieved 7 matches. They were way older then me. I put down 45 as the oldest and I had 55 and older contacting me. I also put down photos only. Yet I kept recieving members with no photo. So I did cancel, but I did get my money back. Here is the customer support line. It's open 24/7 (800-648-9548).
