Note: I have just this year refinanced to get away from this company and it is now with the bank I have used for years.

Everhome Mortgage bought my VA loan shortly after the closing. In the first few months I did not see anything wrong, until I started checking my bank account online.

There, I found that they were not taking out the payment. I called customer service and they assured me that my account was up to date.

That first time it took them until 3 weeks after my grace period for them to take the money from my account (personal check). I thought that was a long time but, I cannot follow how it was deposited.

The next time I paid over the phone (10 dollar charge at the time), I had confirmation # and everything but, as with the check, it did not come out of my account for a long period of time (two weeks).

For the next few months everything was good and checking account got charged.

Then I decided to pay online, first month went fine (came out same day). But, the following month (online pay) it took a couple of weeks to clear. I again was told by customer service everything was fine.

These activities was beginning to scare me, I would either phone or pay by phone fearing that I would be late because of their lack of processing. On November 1, 2008, I paid online again and then did a followup call to customer service when it had not cleared by the 10th. They told me two payments had been credited to my account. This was too much. they also told me that if I had not waited so long (1st was due date, 16 grace period), I would not have this problem. Both payments were cancelled by them after many phone calls and with my bank. On the 20th they took an over the phone payment.

December's payment went through my bank with them guaranteeing the delivery date of a written check, the check was not cashed for over 3 weeks with a delivery date of the 5th.

I incurred one late charge for whatever reason and many rude customer service reps who basically told me that they had no idea how my payments were handled.

I now pay extra on my principal and have 24 hour access to what is going on to my mortgage and checking account (money is out of my account within two minutes after online payment).

REFINANCE IF YOU CAN, get away from Everhome Mortgage.
