1stcb's overdraft policy is designed to generate multiple overdrafts. I had a postive balance with 5 debits showing as 'pending' on their website from the day before. The balance was postive even after accounting for the 'pendings'.

An unexpected item went through that put me into the negative - so they charged a $35 overdraft fee on each of the 5 items. $175 total. Be careful, 1 overdaft will cause all the pendings to go into overdraft.

1stCB will mark all pendings as overdraft if just one puts you over

I am responding to Jim's angry, UPPER case, and trollish reply which is a just variation on the cut and paste jobs he does with all overdraft posts. This is my first overdraft. I have no issue with paying an overdaft on this but not on five. 1stCB holds payments as pending for a day, and even with a starting postive balance, if a later charge puts you over they then mark all pendings as OverDraft, and then mark the later payment as a pending. It's a cash grab when they should only be marking the last charge as an overdraft. Unfortunately 1stCB is the only bank in walking distance for me.

Just ANOTHER Example

YOUR failure to keep written records such as a check register and a running balance is the problem.  In fact , its ALWAYS the problem when people come here to cry and whine about overdraft fees.  If you keep a written running balance and live within that running balance, you will never, ever pay an overdraft fee.  There are many examples of people who do that and have never hand such a fee.  All it takes is the ability to add and subtract, knowledge of the bank's funds availabilty policy and the willingness to not take the lazy way out.  There is no grand conspiracy with the bank.  Its all YOU giving YOURSELF these fees.  Plain and simple.
