Gateway Chevrolet Chris Barney, salesman, s****.>

Contacted a salesman (Chris Barney) to gain information on a 2006 Saturn Vue AWD car. (Short Story) After getting info., we made a offer, the offer was rejected, but the asking price was reduced to $6250, we countered for $6100. The next day, I called to accept the price of $6250, and I ask to give a deposit. The salesman said not until they got the title. I was called 2 days later and told the title was OK, so I arranged for us to drive over to pick up the car, and again ask if I could give them a deposit .. was told no, he (Chris Barney) would keep the keys in his pocket.

Left home Mon. 2/29 at 7 AM bound for Avondale a 300 mile drive, after 1.25 hr. on the road received a call from Chris, telling us that the shop had found a leaking head gasket on the car & they would put it into the auction, and he would call back in approximately an hour, to give us additional information. He never called, I have tried calling him (4 x) and left messages .. called & left messages for his 3 upper managers .. none will return my calls .. I wanted to buy the car anyway, and repair it myself.

Checked the Auction house in the area (DAASW) they didn't receive the car .. so, due to the lack of a auctioned car, I have to guess someone offered more $$, and they sold it to them.

Chris Barney will make a good sales manager some day as He already has developed the skills needed, lie, cheat, and steal .. the used car business has very low morals, when they can't even return a phone call.

The Moral of the story is don't do business with Gateway in AZ, maybe ND would be better ...
