Gateway Chevrolet a joke, dishonest, ripoff, not professional Chicago Illinois

My boyfriend filled out the apply for credit application on the Gateway Chevrolet website. He was then called the next morning and "kevin" left him a voicemail saying that he could get a car on his own with no co-signer. Which was great because he had no credit and no one else would approve him. "Kevin" then went on to ask him what kind of cars he was interested it. My boyfriend told him a camaro or trans am. "Kevin" said that they had a camaro and a trans am. My boyfriend asked my mom to come with just because we dont know much about the interest rates and so on.

So we drove from Kenosha, Wi to Chicago. Which is about an hour and a half away. We found the place and everything. We walk in and ask to speak to "Kevin". The young punk, his name is Ed, said oh well we can take care of you. We began to walk into the "show room" which had NO cars and LOTS of people in it. Kinda felt like we were in a zoo. So we sat down and they began to ask us what we were interested in. My boyfriend said that "Kevin" has this information and we would like to deal with him since he has already talked to him. The punk car dealer, Ed, said well "Kevin" is not in this building he is in a different building. OH IMAGINE THAT!

So my boyfriend gave Ed his information. Ed was working with another guy, Sam (he is only there on saturdays). So they disappear for about 20 minutes and come back and said that he was only approved for an older car and they didnt have any. So we asked about the camaro that "Kevin" said that was there. Ed said that they sold it about 25 minutes before we got there. Yea right. So he said well go look around on the car lot and see what you can find. My boyfriend found a 06 white monte carlo. Ed said that the payment would be $558.00 a month with intrest of 9.9% interest. He told Ed that that was way too much. He said he could afford $400.00 a month including insurence. Ed said that they would cover the insurence for the first 30 days.

So Ed said im going to go get you a car to test drive. My boyfriend figured it was the white monte carlo. Ed pulls up in a MAZDA. My boyfriend looked at him and said no. Ed said just drive it and my boyfriend said you couldnt pay me to get in that car. Which my boyfriend is a chevy type guy. We went back in and said we were leaving. They then said that he could get the car he wanted if he had a co signer. My mom said well what could you do if i did co sign. He disappeared for 20 minutes came back and said the payment would be $450.00 a month with 8.9% interest rate. which we said no to because he couldnt afford that.

My boyfriend made a phone call to his cousin who is a fiance manager. He said that there is no way that those payments would be that much with my moms credit. My moms credit is over 750. So we told them that. Agian they disappeared for another 20 minutes and came back with a payment of $358 a month and 7.9% interest rate. Which was pretty good. So we said fine we will take it. After spending over 3 hours in this place we were fed up. We went in the finace room and the lady threw papers at my mom to sign like we knew what everything she said ment. we were asking her questions and she was very short with us. My boyfriend said why am i not signing any papers since its my car. She said you will sign them when she refinances it in your name. As this was going on Ed was looking for the keys. They disappeared. IMAGINE THAT!

So Ed said pick something to drive until Monday and then you can come back and pick up your car. We were like ok. So we leave that Saturday evening and come Monday my mom said that she didnt like the way they did business. Which who would! So my boyfriend had his mom come with to bring this car back.

We explained that we didnt want the car. From what we thought we had 7 days to deny the car. Well they then told us that it was 3 days and that if we did refuse the car that it would go on my moms credit as bad. So my boyfriend and his mom called people who they knew worked in the car business. Everyone said that they were lying. Everyone said just leave dont touch the car or anything. So we didnt. My boyfriend didnt even test drive it.

My mom then wanted to talk to the manager because of course i called her. So Ed went to get his manager. Which the guy didnt look like he could be a manager. He looked like another punk kid. So he was talking to my mom and i didnt like they way he was talking to her. So i grabbed my phone and walked outside. While i was outside the manager and Ed were talking to my boyfriend. Then this guy in the desk next to Ed said well if your not going to take the car home then you better move it otherwise its going to get towed. He said no.

Pretty soon myself and my boyfriends mom went in there and told him to come outside. We were talking and decided to leave. About 20 minutes into our drive home Ed called my boyfriend and asked where we were. He said we left. Ed began to tell him that the car was going to get towed and so on. My boyfriend said i dont really care. He told him that we were getting lawyers and called to bbb.

This was the worst experience i have ever had with anything. Horrible business. I dont know to this day who "kevin" is. I think he is just a made up person. These people sold a car to someone when they knew it was for someone else. They didnt bother telling us any of the details they ran around every question we had.

We went today to Sullivan in Libertyville, Il and were treated excellent. They got us a great deal. If you are reading this and have not been to gateway DONT GO. TRUST ME!!!
