Like others on this website I have had a HORRIBLE experience with GE Money Bank as a result of loan I cosigned for a woman who was working for me. I don't have time to write up the full report now, but here are some highlights. GE Money Bank repeatedly failed to record address and bank account changes that were made with the company and then kept sending notices to the wrong address and recording bounced checks without contacting me, and then claiming that they did not have my phone number (even thought they did call me one time at the beginning, so they clearly had my number). Of course by then the interest rate had sky rocketed to 26% so that the person who took out the loan would never have been be able to pay it off the balance, which came close $6,000. As a result I was forced to pay off the loan in November of 2008 and work out a personal loan agreement with the woman who took out the loan.

Months later, however, GE began calling me claiming that I still owed money and since they were drawing on an automatic account that had been closed and the payments were rejected I now owed interest on the failed payments. I had to make numerous calls and then wait on the phone for over on hour to talk to a supervisor only to be disconnected before I could talk to them. When I finally called back I was told that the account had been closed and they would drop the charges. One week later I got another call from someone saying that I still owed money. I reminded the caller that I had closed the account and they said yes, they saw that it was closed, but I still owed money.

After talking to their supervisor they finally agreed (again) that I did not owe money and that they would close the account. Later that day they faxed me a letter saying that I had paid the remaining balance in April and that nothing was owed. Of course it is not true that I paid an additional $39, since nothing was owed, but I decided to let that go until they try to harass me again. Since so many other people have had similar experiences I wonder if we can have a class action lawsuit against them. If so how can we go about contacting one another--perhaps by e-mail to start? The poor woman who took out the loan has had to pay thousands more dollars than the original loan and I would love to get her money back for her (not to mention compensation for the time and aggravation that I have had to put into this over the last year). Let's not let this company get away with this sort of highway robbery.
