Several months ago I purchased a bass guitar from GuitarCenter.com.

After receiving the guitar, I was in need of a guitar case. GuitarCenter.com sells something they call Rugged and durable cases. The description of these cases state that they combine the strength and protection of polyfoam cases, etc. etc. The problem is that they don't give any measurements, which leads a customer to assume that a standard size guitar would fit in them, which is not so.

After ordering this guitar case and seeing that it was not long enough to house the neck of my bass guitar, I was told that I could send it back. The problem w/ sending it back is that the shipping and handling cost exceed the cost of the guitar case.

After informing the company of this problem, I was directed to contact any local Guitar Center in my area, in order to do an exchange to obtain a case that my guitar would fit in. I did in fact contact 2 different local stores named Guitar Center, located in my area. I was told that they are not affiliated w/ GuitarCenter.com. I have no way of knowing whether this is true or not, but the point is that GuitarCenter.com should not be selling guitar cases w/o giving the case measurements.

This is misleading the consumer in assumming that the cases are standard guitar sizing due to the fact that no measurements appear in the descriptionof the case.

Needless to say I had to eat the cost of that guitar case and am still in search of a guitar case to house my bass guitar.

GuitarCenter.com Resolution to Complaint

AUTHOR: Brenda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Recently I was contacted by a representative of GuitarCenter.com. My particular complaint against this company has been resolved to my satisfaction.

It is my hopes that the company will no longer sell guitar cases that don't give the case dimensions (measurements).

You could have called and asked them.

Why didn't you call the customer service department and ask questions such as measurement and what not? Do a little research next time.

No ripoff here. GC's website has separate pages for guitar cases and bass guitar cases.

I do not play guitars or bass guitars, but I know how to browse shopping websites.
There is no ripoff here. Basically, you purchased a "regular" guitar case instead of a bass guitar case. Since you play bass guitar, I would think you would know the difference in cases.
