HCTRA HCTRA & LINEBARGER GOOGAN BLAIR & SAMPSON RIPOFFS.. HOW CAN HCTRA AND LINEBARGER GET AWAY WITH THIS? HOUSTON Texas

Having the same problem as many others have reported against HCTRA (Harris County Toll Road Authority) and Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson Collection Agency.

So, back in November I lost my debit card and had to have it cancelled. I gave most creditors the new card but totally spaced out on this HCTRA account. So about a month later I received a past due notice, so I went online and realized that I had forgotten to change to the new debit card account number, so I did. I also noticed there was a negative balance, so I thought, oh good.. I'll just put in the new card and it will bring the account current and thought everything was good and received no futher late notices.

 Well now, 6 months later and after paying many toll refill amounts, I get a collection letter from PerdueBrandonFiedlerCollins & Mott, LLP and it says that I have a current balance of $ 193.50 on a $ 3.50 toll violation (this is from Fort Bend County Toll Road). So again I went to my account and everything looked just fine. So I called HCTRA and they said it was on a different Vehicle Plate Number. And found out that my son had taken the tag off his old vehicle when he sold it and put it on the new vehicle (not knowing any better). That we never changed the vehicle but yet they were billing the tolls to the tag. Which you think would be good enough.. we paid use the Toll Road!!

  So they proceeded to tell me that I have a $ 700.94 balance. (Well I about had a heart attack! ) << mental anguish! They said I owe approx. 6 tolls in between the time my card was lost and the time I went and fixed it. And $ 461.65 to Linebarger!!! So I've paid all along but had 5 days of no tag because of the debit card. So I asked it they (HCTRA could help me out), and they said they would waive their fees of $ 239.29 but I would still have to pay Linebarger and I said I couldn't afford that. So they said they take payments, so they transfered me to the payment department (45 minute wait) and they said they can take payments and $ 161.85 would be due today and I can pay the remaining payments in 4 or 5 more payments for a total of $ 700.94 !!! So, if you make payments you lose the removal of the $ 239.29 fees from HCTRA.

  I also phone Linebarger Googin Blair & Sampson, and they absolutely will not deal with you at all!! It's full payment , no negotiating & very rude. They said I have to pay or they will boot car, can't get the car re-registered when time to. That they will sue! These people are total ripoffs! How can a firm like this get away with this???

  In all this time from November to May, I received 2 late letters. One from HCTRA (that I thought was taken care of when I put in the new debit card). And, one recently from PerdueBrandonFielderCollins&Mott, LLP for Fort Bend toll road. Never got another late letter from HCTRA nor never received any at all from Linebarger Googin Blair & Sampson.

  So they don't even contact you and after 6 months you find out you owe them money. No follow from HCTRA, etc.. This is a total SCAM !!! They are getting rich off innocent victims! They need to be put out of business!

  How do I only get one collection letter from one company and not even the one that we now apparantly owe a fortune too? so for approx. a total of maybe $ 10.00 in Toll Road Fees, we now owe $ 700.94 & $ 193.50 , for a total of $894.44, how could this be legal???

  I wouldn't be so irate right now if I had to pay maybe $ 50.00 in total, but when I had an account and was paying tolls and now I am told $ 894.00, this is right out RIPOFFS!
