I have a very rare first name and rare surname. Together, they are likely unique in the United States according to sites like HowManyOfMe.com. I had my full name registered as domains in the .org, .net. and .com top-level domains. Due to a credit-card number change, the .com version fell out of registration and was immediately registered by HugeDomains.com. The only possible motivation for this is to extort $1,195 — the current price to get it back from them — from me, as nobody else could possibly want this domain. Although this is a blatant violation of the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act, the price is cheaper than UDRP or litigation, so they get away with it. I will never give them a penny on a point of general principle, but would be very interested in entering a class action along with their other victims.
