I had a domain name, benbyers.com. After an unfortunate series of events earlier this year I was forced into a Mental Hospital. While I was their my domain registrar was unable to renew my domain. Eventually this impending disaster was brought to my attention when I was informed that my domain was being released and I would have to pick it up in an auction.

So with this new found knowledge I went to GoDaddy to backorder my domain. The day it was released Huge domains purchased it. Now when I first purchased benbyers.com, I paid around $12 with a student discount (I am in high school.) Now Huge Domains wants around $1,795. I tried calling them and explaining the situatuin I was in and they informed me that they would not go lower than $795.

Huge Domains seems to buy expired domains and then sells them back to owners for hundreds of dollars. I cant imagine why they think that benbyers.com is worth even $795 dollars, it has no value to it! The only part of it that is valuable is my name, which is only valuable to me, so they are almost holding it for ransom.

Now I based on the research I have performed, this is in direct violation of the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA), 15 U.S.C. § 1125(d), which was enacted in 1999. It clearly states that "no intention of creating a legitimate web site, but instead plan to sell the domain name to the trademark owner or a third party" now if you examine benbyers.com, you only see the price and how to buy it, not actual website or content is being published.

Their is alot more information regarding the ACPA on wikipedia and you can also use the internet archive to see the content I was previously hosting on the website.

I hope this is enough information, however if more is needed, I am happy to provide it.
