IRobot, IRobot roomba discovery unit ripoff Burlington Massachusetts

What a ripoff for the money! My first unit died shortly after the one year mark, they sold me a replacement unit and guess what? One year later it is now not working properly.

And yes, I took care of it. And yes, I tried a new yellow battery just in case it was a battery problem. And yes, I reset the changing system by holding the power button down for the required 5 seconds (30) and tried charging the new battery for another 16 hours. (Not using the base)

It starts up , runs for 13-16 minutes, goes from green to red and plays it's sad little death tune.

Now to add insult to injury, tech support has just offered to sell with a new 500 series "that does not have that problem" for 300$ plus dollars. Hey, tech support? maybe you should fix the problem that current owners of the Discovery unit are having instead of selling us another unit? If you know there is a problem, why haven't you offered a firmware fix for it?

I used my unit almost everyday and expected to buy a new battery at least once a year, but I will not be buying another roomba. Garbage is garbage no matter how cute and easy it may be!
