Canceled phone service and sent back voip box as requested via USPS.  3 months later get a charge of $99.99 on my credit card bill.  They say they never got my voip box.  I have no proof that they received it.  My fault for not getting a tracking number.  I accept that and offered to pay a reasonable fee for the voip box which was used when I received it, BTW, but they refused saying that they agree that the box was not worth $99.99 but that is the penalty for not returning it.  My advice? STAY AWAY!!

ITP VOIP RIP OFF STAY AWAY

AUTHOR: Schram - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 22, 2011

I agree with what this person stated, she is stating the truth. ITP VOIP has taken more than $200.00 from my account.  I have filed a report with RIP-OFF as well and it should be posted soon.

Please file a consumer compliant at the FTC. https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If enough people file, I am sure ITP will be investigated for fraud.

Confirmation of improper equipment charges

AUTHOR: Keith - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, July 08, 2010

We have been ITP customers for about 3 years now.

In that time we have had 3 failures of the Linksys VoIP adapters. In each case we received accaptable service from ITP. The replacement adapters arrived quickly along with the label and box to return the malfunctioning adapter.

In each case; we mailed the malfuntioning units back on the next business day and received delivery confirmations within a week and, in each case, we later were charged for non-returned equipment. The second incident also saw a second $99 charge (their explanation was vague but I think they were saying that we were being charged for the brokem adapter and the new adapter.)

We have been improperly charged a total of $396 over the past 3 years. $297 has been refunded to us so far (the last incident is in progress at this time.) We do expect that this latest $99 charge will be refunded as well but we've been given very little consideration for lost work time and extra bank charges caused by unexpected charges such as these. On the second incident we were promissed 3 months of complementary service by way of making amends but actualy received only 1 month of reduced charges.

Since the improper charges have been, to date, reversed after making complaints to customer service I would stop short of calling this a scam or "ripoff" but there is a clear failure in ITP's equipement handling and billing process for this problem to surface so reliably.

Due to the acceptable quality of the VoIP service itself and the many, many people who would have to be notified if we left; we are not planning on changing this service at this time but unless this problem is resolved I can not make a positive recommendation to prospective customers.

THIS IS A CONFIRMATION THAT ITP SUCKS

AUTHOR: Doukas - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 30, 2009

I signed up with them last month and as an engineer I was very careful not to repeat the problems with the previous VOIP.

I signed for the 24.95 plan and promised that with tax and everything would not pay more than $32/ month only to find that the charges are over $42/month

THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS AND THE ABOVE PERSON IS 100% CORRECT.

WE NEED SOME SORT OF CONSUMER PROTECTION FROM SCAM ARTISTS LIKE

Equipment Penalties

AUTHOR: ITP Support - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 09, 2009

As with almost all VoIP, cable or internet service providers the equipment has to be returned upon cancellation of service. Failure to return the device will result in a penalty that ITP will refund only after our receiving the equipment. We cannot be responsible for any delays or losses caused by the Postal Service or any other method you chose to return the device. Our customer care team does advise you to get a tracking number for precisely this situation.

If you would like to discuss the specific details of your account and what we can do, please feel free to contact customer care.
