I am a current employee at JE in one of the call centers. Daily I get calls from customers with higher than high rates. Sometimes I just want to cancel customers account for them when I pull up the accounts and see their rates. But a few of things that I have realized and should bring to the light.

Number 1. Yes. When you sign the contract 70-80% of the reps use shady tactics and 10 times out of 10the rates are higher than most can even manage. But honestly from a consumer perspective the biggest thing is if you know or feel when you talk to the rep that visits that what they are offering or how they're offering it doesn't seem right, DONT SIGN UP!!!! We get countless calls of people who call to cancel after the rep leaves to cancel their account because they felt they were "pressured" or just "didn't want to say no". Honestly speaking (Excuse my French) F* THAT!!!! Don't waste time signing and calling something because you want to be "nice" or you feel "pressured" into it. That's really annoying...for everyone.

Number 1.5. If you have any type of thought process than don't even open the door. They approach you while your walking in the house, tell them to kick rocks. Its just that simple. They may be mad, but at least you wont set yourself up for a possible bad experience later.

Number 2. In some cases, if you call in and speak with a rep that is not rude and willing to explain and work with you, than listen. Yes. Some reps are beyond incompetent but in most cases we are working with what were given. In some cases, the rates that we have available are VERY good. In other cases, they are horse a*s. PLEASE do not call in and take out your aggressions against the company on the rep you speak with because yes we work for the company but in most cases we do not share the same views as the company. In most cases we're just there to get a check.

Number 3. When you call in to cancel, the processing for it is not up to JE. Your utility company ultimately determines when the account is closed. They can process the cancellation on their end whenever they feel like it. So honestly, when you hear 1-2 billing cycles, that's just the timeframe were given. On the other hand, and once again, YES, there are incompetent reps that work for the company and do not cancel the account when you request but that does not happen often. If we do not cancel accounts, that is cause for potential termination. Do we want to get fired for not closing your account...HELL NO.

All in all, like I stated before, We work with what were given and were just doing our jobs the way were told so we don't get fired. On the other hand, like I stated previously, you feel like its a scam when your visited, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. In all actuality, don't even show them your bill. Or you can take a step further and NOT OPEN THE DOOR or entertain what they are trying to pitch.

The biggest thing in all is YES 60-70% of the time, what they are trying to sale you is bulls*, but take the reviews and horror stories with a grain of salt because it is 50/50. The rep offered and they signed so all in all you really set yourself up for failure. MAYBE something happen where something goes wrong or something is shady, but everybody does not fall into a "SCAM".  But on the same hand, if you decide to call to cancel make sure you do 2 things. Explain your issues in full and use a respectable tone because you would not want someone to call and yell at you for something that is not your fault. Just remember you have to give respect to get it. Secondly, do your research before hand and ask questions because in some cases, what a rep is offering you over the phone could be a HUGE savings for you(we're not supposed to use the word "savings").

not much control when they use forgery......

AUTHOR: Elaine - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 29, 2014

So tired of hearing "should have read the fine print" or "dont sign anything"...

In many cases, these solar panel dogs forge your signature, so what exactly do we do about that? The OPP know about it yet it continues. There have even been full fledged fraud/forgery investigations and the solar company (Blue Power aka Morenergy) was found guilty but there was a lack of evidence according to Durham police. Really?

And of course it does not read in the fine print "we will be ripping you off as soon as you sign, even if you dont, we'll sign for you.

Some of us cant even seem to get a copy of our contract at all?

So how exactly do we protect ourselves against proven criminals like this? And for the love of Pete STOP saying read the fine print...  and dont sign. This is insulting and a cop-out for an answer. Lets hear something helpful for a change.

This is criminal.  Everyone knows about the big solar ripoff scam, but no-one is doing anything... except of course the usual advice "dont sign anything" and "read the fine print"... that doesn't work with serial fraudsters...  prison would though.
