To begin i would like to introduce myself, my name is Brian. My wife and I purchased a Brand NEW Keystone Carbon 327 Toy hauler from Mike Thompsons RV in Fountain Valley and took delivery of the unit on July 1, 2014 for a planned three week vacation to Utah, Wyoming, Northern Sierra's and then home. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short by 9 days when we discovered a MAJOR Manufacturer Defect in the roof covering beginning at the attachment point where the front fiberglass cap meets the roof, underneath the rubber seal. The rubber seal itself was completely cracked, and the rubber roof began to peel back. It had rained the night before and it was evident that water had leaked through when it touched the exposed wood. In addition to the rubber seal at the front cap being cracked, it was also evident that the rubber sealant used at each of the front vents was compromised as they were beginning to peel back off of the roof, making it obvious to not just me, but to the dealership that I took it to later, that the rubber sealant used during the manufacturing process was defective. The rubber roof had also begun to separate from the wooden roof due to the exposed air pockets that had developed during transit. While on our retreat back home to address these problems, we were flagged by a very concerned truck driver who informed us that our roof was ripped and was flapping everywhere. Upon this notification, I immediately pulled over to discover that the front 1/3 of the roofing material had been ripped and air pockets had developed under the entire right side of the fifth wheel as well as some parts on the left.

To me, being a professional driver of Firefighting Apparatus', this addresses a VERY concerning issue of public safety while commuting on roadways and highways. Thankfully, we were notified soon enough to make the necessary modifications to secure the roof and nurse it home, and no one was hurt. My wife and I are reasonable people and understand that small problems do occur with these trailers. It's sad, but if you research the industry enough, you will read story after story of other peoples issues with their RV's and come to expect that it will happen to you too. With that being said, I believe that my particular case is very different; I believe that this is a major manufacturer defect that needs to be reported to expose Keystone for there negligence during Quality control. Furthermore, in addition to the roof, we found some additional, concerning issues with the coach itself which makes me question the craftsmanship of the manufacturer.

Here is a list of the items we have comprised thus far on our 12 DAY OLD Fifth Wheel:   1. While taking my very first shower in the trailer, I discovered measurable cracks in two places in the shower pan. It was not there when we had done the final walk through which means it happen during transit.-(Shower pan cannot be replaced just patched!!) 2. The kitchen cabinet, to the right of the stove, had rattled open during transit and was lying on the ground when we arrived at our first destination. The screws had literally come unscrewed and stripped out of the wood causing damage to the cabinet face and the cabinet. 3. Upon pulling the large garage screen down, again, for the very first time being used, it was evident that it had come undone and was not seated properly within the guides. 4. While opening the rear garage door upon arriving at our first destination, the strut at the bottom of the door fell completely out of the door, allowing the door to swing freely into the side of the trailer. 5. While in transit, parts from the interior front piece of the awning bracket fell out. 6. The water pump runs continuously, does not stop once prime is obtained, concerning me that water is being pumped somewhere? 7. Several other small fit and finish repairs like scratches, stains in the carpet were also noted.   I have attached photos that document these issues mentioned above. My fear is, based on the events of two weeks we had the trailer in our possession, that the 5th wheel we purchased will continue to have issues due to the poor manufacturing evidenced thus far.

In closing, I cannot express to you enough how deeply saddened and overwhelmed my wife and I are at these troubling findings. This has been a dream of ours to finally purchase a fifth wheel to share the experiences of the outdoors that we grew up enjoying as children with our own family. I have spent the last 2 years researching different companies, manufacturers and talked with several of your competitors only to come to KEYSTONE to make this large purchase. I had literally only owned the trailer for 2 weeks as of the day we dropped it off at the dealer for repairs and I am now faced with a huge dilemma...what to do now? I have already began making payments and I still do not even have the ability to use the trailer nor do I have a definitive date on when I will have it back. I have made several attempts to contact Keystone with no avail so i am left with no other alternative but to expose them on a national level and contact a lawyer at this point. Please don't make the almost $60k MISTAKE that i made, buy somewhere else.

Brian Here are some questions it always need to be asked before buying a brand-new motor home

AUTHOR: Auto dealer fraud Investigator - ()

POSTED: Thursday, August 14, 2014

Brian disinformation for you. When you buy a brand-new motor home dealerships get paid to do what's called a predelivery inspection By the RV manufacture. They're supposed to make sure the RV Is ready to go and is in safe operation. They're supposed to check out the water system The complete electrical system regarding the coach and the chassis. They are supposed to make sure the LP gas system does not leak any LP gas at all when the system is turned on.

They are supposed to make sure that when the gas appliances are being used that there are no leaks of LP gas at it anytime. LP gas has what's called an expansion factor.  Let me explain LP gas when in a container or a tank it is compressed into a liquid form. When released into the atmosphere expands to explosive vapor.

Let's say you have 20 gallons of LP gas compressed into the tank and ready to go in liquid form inside the tank If the coach has a leak anywhere in the system that 20 gallons of liquid propane will expand to 5400 gallons of explosive paper inside the coach if it's leaking propane inside.

Let's say you have 40 gallons of propane on that tank It will expand To 10,800 gallons of explosive vapor.  Each gallon of liquid propane has an expansion rate that expands to 270 gallons of explosive vapor for every gallon in the tank.

From the problems that you're complaining about it's obvious to me I believe the dealership did not do a pre-delivery inspection. Many RV dealerships refuse to do the predelivery inspection even though they got paid to do it. Some of them figure oh well the customer will bring it back and will get everything done under warranty work. At the manufactures expense

Many RV dealers do not care about the customers they only care about the cash. If they cared about the customers they would do it predelivery inspection from one end to the other all Aspects of the motorhome.

At the RV manufactures continue to move the other way when the Steelers failed to do their job and do a proper predelivery inspection and make sure that brand-new coach is ready for you to enjoy.

How much should you pay for this coach ?

Do you have any documentation to show the output pressure of the LP gas regulator ?

Do you have any documentation that the dealership gave me to show you that all of the LP gas appliances work and do not leak ?

Did they show you a documentation that reveals that they get a complete FULL predelivery inspection and a checklist of all items that have been Properly inspected ?

Did you pay cash for this coach ?

Or did you finance it ?

Did they give you a complete and thorough walk-through to make sure everything works ?

What is the out put Of the LP gas regulator ?

Did they explain to you have a check for LP gas leaks ? I am willing to bet that they did not. Trust me I will be contacting the RV manufacturer and ask them to show you any documentation regarding them paying the RV dealership to do a predelivery inspection..

From what I see you have an excellent lawsuit case. If you got a hold of the appropriate attorney and he went into discovery that dealership would not be happy..

RV dealerships can be a lot worse than car dealers..

Do you know that when you operate the hot water heater that you do not have any LP gas leaks ?

When you operate the fairness does it leak LP gas ?

When you operate the refrigerator on LP gas is there any LP gas leaks that you know of ?

LPS expansion rate Let's do some more math

If you have 50 gallons of liquid propane in the tank and it's released into the atmosphere it expands to 13,500 gallons of explosive vapor......

Think twice before you ignite anything...

Think about it for second do you feel this RV dealership really cares about you and a new coach you bought What do you think they care about the money MORE ??????

Serve RV dealerships should not be in business and all the manufacturers need to get a clean check up from the neck up before they allow a business to be come a authorized dealer.....
