A friend and I were shopping at the Kroger store, Linwood Square, in Indianapolis, IN. I purchased several items, and to make it easier for me to carry the items, I put some of them into my own bag.
As I was leaving the store, I was approached by a store employee, saying I had not paid for the items inside my bag, and would I follow him (and a security guard) to the office. I did as he asked, knowing I had done nothing wrong.
The items had been paid for, but for some reason 3 of them did not show up on the register receipt...Making it look as if I had stolen them, which I did not.
Police were called out, I was interigated (sp), and was nto believed at all. I was then told that if I "Came Clean" and admitted to "taking" the items, I would not be arrested, but would be summoned into court. I am on probation, so to avoid going to jail, I did as they suggested, and said I took the items.
Now, I am scheduled to go to court, may be facing jail anyway for "Violation of Probation". Just because I was trying to make carrying my groceries an easier task, I am now in trouble for something I DID NOT DO.
Just makes me wonder how many other innocent people these people have humiliated, embarrased and sent to jail for crimes they did not commit. These people need to watch out for the real criminals, and leave innocent people alone.

I know, you're on probation, probabably for, you guessed it, shoplifting, but this was just an accident. That's a good story, I'd stick with that. I stay awake nights wondering how many"innocent" people have been humiliated, embarrased and sent to jail and how many haven't.

Liar. I have also never seen someone be dumb enough to put the items in there own bag.

I have worked at a kroger store in the front end as a cashier/customer service clerk/accounting clerk for the past five year. Not ONCE, has an item that was bought not been on the receipt. You obviously did NOT buy the three items. What? Do you think the computer had a brain fart or something and deleted your three items while you still bought these items. I have also never seen someone be dumb enough to put the items in there own bag. You're full of it.

Yeah right! Have fun in jail!

Clearly you are innocent! And you were just being harrassed unfairly! And those 3 items that were put into your bag just HAPPENED to be the 3 items that didn't show up on the receipt (what are the odds?) yet you claim that items were paid for (how could they be paid for if they weren't on the receipt?).
You're a liar. If things went down as you said those items would have at very least been in a bag and not STILL in your purse. I mean, what kind of a cashier scans items and then hands them back to you to put in your purse? And if you were so innocent why didn't the store just reference their security tape to see that you'd handed the items to the cashier to be scanned? Why? Because they had other things to watch, like you walking out with their merchandise.
Get real--the store isn't that stupid and neither are we. Have fun in jail!

Put items in your OWN bag? That is called theft by concealment.

Have you ever heard of SHOPPING CARTS? That is what non-thief shoppers use to make their items easier to carry. You claim you paid for 3 items which "did not show up" on the register receipt. Ha!! What a crock of bull if ever did I see one! And you mention that you are on probation .. for what may I ask?? Sounds to me like you have a little problem there mister ...
