On January 18, 2015 I responded to Lasik Vision Institute (LCI) advertisement of $199 per eye laser surgery by going to their facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. After their initial exam I was told that I was an excellent candidate for their laser procedure. They explain that the total cost would be $3,745.95 in addition to what my insurance would pay. I inquired about the $199 per eye and they told me something about that that was for people with eyesight other than mine. I then inquired as to how long that facility has been around and during that amount of time how many clients qualified for the $199 per eye that that facility performed. They told me they have never had a client that met the requirements for the $199 procedure. I then mentioned to them that that is deceptive and they assured me that it was not since other institutes have performed the $199 procedure.
After that I went ahead and agreed to the $3,745.95. They then examined my eyes and I went in to have the surgery done. The doctor that was performing the surgery was wearing glasses. I inquired as to why he was wearing glasses and he explained that he was not secure enough to have the surgery done on himself.
Once the surgery was done I was told it would be several days before my eyesight would be normal. After several months my eyesight was not as expected.
Before the surgery I was able to give presentations at a distance (wearing glasses) and was able to read in the far distance with no problem. I was also able to read with no problem without glasses. I was able to read fine print and to write in small print.
After, I was unable to give presentations, unable to read fine print, have trouble reading, unable to read off a monitor two feet away or farther.
After returning to the clinic several times I was then told it sometimes takes up to a year for the vision to return to normal. So, I waited a year and am now going back to glasses. I contacted LCI and was told that although I have the Lifetime package I will have to pay additional fees to return to them so that they can assess the issue.
