I applied for a signature loan to consolidate credit car bills from the holidays. ($3000) Lending tree supplied a list of lenders with rates and terms. I selected a lender who had a rate and term I was comfortable with and answered all the application questions.

I received an email notification that was loan was approved and a lending office would be contacting me shortly.

I was contacted Monday and scheduled for a closing time the same day. (3pm) I arrived at 2:50pm and was told the agent would be we me shortly and they had me wait in the closing room. At 3:15 the closing agent finally showed up and she had me filled out a reverence sheet.

I was then presented with the loan documents for signature and the interest rate was 27.9% and they would only do a $5,000 loan. (and $174.00 for 60 months .... $10,440 payback.)

I asked the closing agent what was going on and why the interest was so high. Oh, your income to lower then our allowable limit.

I told her I have a beacon score of over 800 and the only reason I came to lending tree was the commercial said it was quick and easy, from the comfort of your home and with competitive rates.

I walked away from the closing table.
