Libery Power is an energy supplier that has called numerous times, several weeks in a row, untill you get to the point that they drive you nuts. They kept pressuring me (over the phone) to lock in a future contract that would be 1 year in advance; while I was 6 months into an 18 month contract with them already!!! I argued my refusal and they kept insisting how bad the rate increase will be. They leave me alone after 5 months, and started calling again pressuring me to enter into a locked rate and number of months telling me there will be rate increases that would be 50% more by the time my contract was up. They give me a rate that they say they will be locked in because the future costs are going to be so much higher and they can only give that rate to me now if I agree. They say they recorded me agreeing which if I did agree, the sound of my voice would signal I was under duress due to my whole history of their constant calling, my arguing with them, and I'm not in the Energy Supplier Business; I do other jobs requiring focused attention and other deadlines, of which I get things in writing for contracts, not confirmations or contracts over the phone I have nothing in my files from them.
4 months later, I didn't remember confirming a rate with them or entering into a "telephone contract" and they did not send me any enrollment confirmation for my own files nor e-mail me anything or given me a right to rescission. I had a copy of my current 18 Month contract that was about to expire. I find out rates from other suppliers and I want to drop them, I call them, that's when I'm told there is a phone call of my agreement and they say that I agreed to their rate. I reply that I never received copies of the new plan that they said they had spoken to me about 4 months earlier. They're just now sending me what they call a welcome letter (because I asked for it) but they admit there was nothing mailed or emailed to me 4 months ago. They are suppose to be sending me my recorded affirmations also (because I asked for it). I now ask for a lower rate, and they tell me they can't give me a lower rate because I already agreed to one four months earlier that I have nothing in writing of. How convenient that they will not go back and listen to the other recordings of me ranting about how they expect me to agree to something that is too far in advance. Do they record their threats to me that the "rates will be double by then" line? This is the shady practice of "since you're not a new customer and have been with us for a while, we can't offer you a better rate" untrustworthy practices, high presser sales, annoying persistance, using unwarranted threats to prey on their own customer base. It's sick and it's how they do business.
