I purchased a wireless router manufactured by Linksys (Cisco) at Circuit City. I made my decision based on the rebates offer through Linksys ($20.00) and Circuit City ($10.00). I installed the router, completed the applications and cut the bar code off the box and mailed it into the Linksys (Cisco).
Two days later I purchased another router for my business with the same rebates offered. I waited WEEKS and received my $10.00 rebate from Circuit City, but NO REBATE from LINKSYS. They sent a letter stating that they had to have the original bar code.
Well, since each box only has one bar code and their original paperwork did not call for the original I sent the original bar code to Circuit City which did request the original. After receipt of their letter I sent correspondence and copies of all documents, including a copy of the bar code to Linksys/Cisco and received NO RESPONSE.
I feel that I was cheated and that their policy is to deceive the public into purchasing their products. To date I have no response from the company Linksys/Cisco and will NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR PRODUCTS.
The application was lenghty and designed to be deceptive so that the customer will just either not complete the form or forget the rebate is due. THIS COMPANY "LINKSYS" AND "CISCO" LIES!...

#1 UPDATE Employee
Circuit City/ Linksys Rebate
AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

Hello, and please accept our apologies for the problem you're facing. I work at Circuit City and know some good steps to take when resolving Rebate troubles that should be able to help you.
Rebates are usually 2 or more parties putting money in towards a product that can add up to larger savings than what one party might be able to do ("the more the merrier," but the more paperwork to read and mail out.) We like the original UPC when other simultaneous rebates aren't requiring them, and Manufacturers like the original UPC when simultaneous rebates aren't requiring them. Sometimes lines cross and 2 rebates are received that each want the Original UPC Barcode from the Product Packaging.
From Early Bird customers to Corporate Employees, it doesn't take long for our Rebate Center to discover the issue and react by accepting copies of the UPC for that particular rebate even though the printed form shows otherwise. Always call the store first regarding a rebate in question. However, while this might help other people reading, your original UPC was unfortunately already mailed in, which takes an extra step. Below are the best steps I know of.
Call your local store and see if they can write a note explaining that the original UPC was required by our Rebate Center (it can be hand written), with the store's location number and contact info in case the Manufacturer has questions or wishes to verify, and then authenticated in ink with our Circuit City Mail Stamp. Resubmit the rebate. This method has worked excellent in the past when we've been hit with this issue.
You can also call Linksys Rebate Center at 1-800-546-5797. They can sometimes resolve rebate notices over the phone or at least provide direction on what to do next. If this website does not allow me to display the contact number of another company, visit our website and click on Help in the upper right corner. From there you can click on "Manufacturer Rebate Contacts" and find the correct phone number.
Last; if you need more information, we have a strong reference page regarding completing and tracking rebates and what to do with those that run into trouble. That web address is "circuitcityrebates"
Hope one of these methods are able to help.
