Mr. Rooter Outrageously Charged for 10 minutes to Unplug a Toilet by a local Plumber Boise Idaho

There are a few issues here.

First of all you claim that your landlord will reimburse you in case of an emergency is probably correct.  But how do you define an "emergency".  Well one way you DON'T define it is by making an appointment later in the day because you had other (more important) things to do.  If this was a true emergency you would have taken the 12:30 appointment.  So sorry but you did not not have an emergency.  What you had was an inconvienience...so yes YOU are responsible.

As for the pluming job.  You were most likely charged the minimum charge, which is usually 30-60 minutes of labor.  You may have also had a surcharge because it was the weekend.  So even if he was in the bathroom for 30 seconds or 29 minutes the charge would have been the same.  They told you the price when they arrived, you could have asked before they came out.  So you had every opportunity to decline the service.  Perhaps if you didn't wait 4 extra hours you would have had time to look for someone else.

As for any warranty.  They did one thing...snake your toilet out.  Of course they are not going to give you any sort of "warranty" on something you admit has given you problems.  

Perhaps you can go back to your landord and try to work something out.  Perhaps have them reimburse you the amount he would have paid if you did it through a regular request.  It won't be the entire thing but it may be a few bucks.

 While yes being a plumber is SKILLED LABOR stop for a moment and THINK!!!! put yourself in THIER shoes. EXACTLY how much money would YOU charge to handle a STRANGERS bodily waste?? WHAT is the price tag YOU would put on having to handle $HIT!!!! NOT the proverbial "$hit happens" but the ACTUAL $HIT!!!! Then add onto it ALL of the things YOU flush. So whats the price tag?? WHAT is the amount that YOU would feel comfortable being paid to handle $hit?? So MAYBE the price isn't as bad as YOU want to make it out when YOU consider the job they do. THEY have to go in and fix the problems YOU have created. Im not saying YOU intentionally stopped up your own toilet but it WAS during YOUR normal use of said toilet that caused it to plug up. So right from the get go these HUMAN BEINGS have to WORK in the nasty that YOU flush. WHile it IS expensive YOU cant sit there and WHINE about it. YOU DO NOT have the skill set to do the job and as PRISSY as your post sounds Im sure YOU are TWICE as PRISSY as that!!! So YOU wouldn't be putting YOUR hands into $hit soaked water up to the elbow to do the job. YOU have NOT been ripped off and YOU should be ashamed of yourself for even making a post. YOU couldn't do the job as YOU do NOT have either the tools or skills to do so. THEY could and charged YOU an appropriate amount to do the job. Heres a thought to give YOU an idea of what THEY get to deal with. Go take a NICE FAT DUMP!! THEN reach in with YOUR BARE HANDS and grab that turd. THEN rub it all over your arms and LIVE WITH IT for a couple of hours. THAT is what THEY deal with. YOUR $hit and stink and nasties YOU flush away.
