I had mr rooter of Weirton come do a job for me in December of 2015. I paid over 4 grand to have this job completed. They came to fix my septic. I needed the line from my septic to my drywell replaced as it had collapsed bc it was an old clay line. The day the came I thought all my septic problems would be behind me but that was not the case. They had me come out bc the said more line needed replaced and I only paid for 5 feet so the price went up. Then they called me out to say I needed the septic cleaned ( that was another 200$ not included in what I paid them ). Then they called me back out to say I would have an additional 2500$ worth of work for a cast iron piece that needed replaced ( I stopped them and said no do not touch that it was to much for the job proposed ). Before they left they said I would always have issues as long as that piece they swore was there wasn't taken out. I started having problems right way. They came back to snake the line less then a week after they completed the job. Then again 2 months later (. That I had to pay out of pocket bc they said no warranty) then again 4 months later. I called to see if they could snake it but they wanted to charge me 500$. I declined the service and the gentleman said its that piece you need it fixed. I said how much was it again and he reminded me 2500$ or more. So I called another company to do the work. They were a fraction of the cost mr rooter proposed it would take to do the job. While they were digging it up we uncovered not only was it not an issue it never existed and my septic was left draining into the ground. My original job from mr rooter ( who got paid to replace pipe ) was never done. I am currently in contact with the bbb and have a meeting with mr rooter but they are trying to say I'm a liar and are trying to probably not refund me. Please to anyone who needs work on anything do not call mr rooter I wish I would have done more research first on this company and their unethical practices.

#1 Consumer Comment
I am so sorry. I am trying to advocate to protect consumers....

I am sorry about the damage you experienced. To my knowledge, Mr. Rooter of Weirton WV, Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh PA, Mr. Rooter of Youngstown OH, and Mr. Rooter of Dayton OH are all owned and operated by the same individuals doing business in the same way. Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh PA, Mr. Rooter of Youngstown OH, and Mr. Rooter of Weirton WV are all close enough that any employee from any location could arrive at your home.
My suggestion is to send a complaint to the Attorney General of WV if they have some sort of consumer protection act or law in place.
In fact, the Mr. Rooter of Youngstown OH location is currently being sued by the Attorney General of Ohio for misrepresentation - in the press release, the AG mentioned that an ederly lady ended up with 6 invoices totaling $20,000.
They have made misrepresentations, breached contracts, destroyed property, refused to make it right by demonstrating incompetence and then trying to sell an additional $5,000 backflow preventer in addition to the $20,000+ for shoddy workmanship as it is, falsely advertised, called me back as Rooter Champion, and other shady actions.
It escalated when I sent the owner a link to a blog (only accessible to anyone who knew the blog's address) because I had too much data to send through email and corporate told me that he was going to contact me about the serious issues that occurred during my Mother's dates of service (Why? Because I was the one who had the 1st hand knowledge). I read online about how they don't typically take care of issues that arise, so if the owner did not take care of the serious issues, then I was going to make sure the world knew about what he had done to my Mother and myself in order to protect someone else from going through the same thing.
So, after receiving the link to my blog, he sent me an email saying that it looks bad but that he would address when he returned from Florida; however, he had no intention on addressing the issues at all (at anytime he could have contacted my Mother, his so-called "valued customer") because he had his lawyer send a letter threatening me with a lawsuit for harrassment and blackmail and that the content of the blog was false and defamatory, but never specified which statements were false and defamatory - keep in mind that this was the first time I had ever contacted him and it was to convey a ton of supporting evidence to back our position.
So, the short story is that they are in the habit of suing people who post truthful negative reviews and fair comment. I am standing up to them because I have told the truth and have evidence of how they harm consumers. I am not saying that they should sue their customers for accurately and publicly stating what happened during their experience, but it should be brought to everyone's attention that they are suing ONLY me.....
Before I even posted anything or sent anything to him, he already published blog posts and felt the need to defend his reputation claiming that he didn't scam the elderly and other behaviors. Other people have publicly called them liars, theives, accused them of scamming or ripping them off.....I am here to support those claims because the evidence I have pretty much supports these statements made before, during, and after I created the blog.
It is NOT ok for a business to sue consumers for telling the truth about their devious acts....Please, warn others.
