NEVER, NEVER use Nationwide Van Lines for a move!  In my opinion, they are the worst company I've ever dealt with!

The salesman, Rick, sounded very professional on the phone - (stupid me!)  When I received the contract, I asked about the section where it indicated that it could take up to 14 business days for our furniture to be delivered.  I was concerned about an international trip I had scheduled in 3 weeks.  I was assured by Rick that moves NEVER took that long and that it was just a precaution in the contract.  (Again, stupid me!)

Needless to say, my departure date arrived and I still hadn't heard when my furniture was to be delivered.  Nobody could tell me anything (I only missed the last 3 days of that 14 day guarantee.)

When I returned from my trip on a Tuesday, I called and asked about a delivery date.  I was told that they would call and give me 48 hours notice of the delivery.  I FINALLY got the call the following Monday afternoon telling me that the delivery would take place that Wednesday.  (So much for the 48 hours notice!)

So, I raced down the highway, driving 12 hours straight, to get to Atlanta in time to receive the furniture on Wednesday.

Wednesday came and went.  That afternoon I called Nationwide to ask where my furniture was and was told that it would be there on Thursday.  Thursday came and went.  Thursday afternoon I called again and was told it would be there on Friday. (At this point I'd paid a month's rent for an apartment I couldn't stay in, had to cancel 2 airplane tickets for scheduled trips ($75 cancellation per ticket) because of them and was paying for multiple nights in a hotel waiting for them.)

Friday morning I finally got a call from the driver saying he'd be there between 2:30-3:30.  I cancelled an important appointment to meet him.  3:30 came and went and no moving van had appeared.  At 4:15 I got a call saying he'd been held up and would call me when he was close.  He finally came at 7:00 that night.  It took him an hour (literally) to back the van up as close as he could get to the apartment.  The move lasted until 11:15pm, with the moving van blocking an entire block of neighbors.  They were rightfully pissed!  The only reason the move didn't take longer was because my son and I worked right alongside the movers and probably saved another couple of hours.

I would NEVER do business with this company again.  The move ended up taking 5 weeks.  Their dispatch department seemed to take delight in jerking me around.  They were incredibly unprofessional and unsympathetic.

I wish I'd known to look for complaints online as there are a huge number of them!
