Hello
I received a letter from NCO saying I owe $1800. I have no idea why I owe this much! An representative from NCO told me to call PayPal, so I did but I waited 20 minutes for a representative from PayPal but never got one, so I hung up. I call NCO back and asked them to send me some documentation about this debt. They said its on the way and that I should call back in a month.

But in the letter it says if I don't make contact in the month that they assume the debt is real and needs to be paid. I have no idea what to do. Should I pay the debt even though I have no idea what it is for? thanks

Nic

Question...

AUTHOR: Nic - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 07, 2005

I received my letter about 6 months ago from NCO and started making payments, but never received any info. So can I still ask for information on it ?

My friend also received a letter a couple of weeks ago but they said his information is on the way.
(My last post was in reference to my friend..He's the one that supposedly owes them $1800)

You need to send a letter to NCO, certified mail return receipt requested, demanding verification of the debt. They have to prove that it is your debt and that is a collectable debt. Make sure you keep copies of everything. If this is NOT your debt or if the statute of limitations has expired, then you need to advise them that it is not your debt. Again, keep copies of everything.
