The letter I just received demands 16,494.93$ be paid to NCO Financial svs, or reports will be sent to the major credit bureaus and further collection efforts will follow. This debt is alledged to be from a credit card issued by CHASE Providian and bought by NCO.

This is completely BOGUS! The card, the account, and the debt do not exist and have never existed. The pattern I see from these ripoff reports naming NCO is clear,
most people being targeted, myself included, have a bankruptcy in our past(10-12 yrs ago). We have rebuilt our credit to a respectable level or are in a steady rebuilding state. We appear to be vulnerable to these extortionists, as we dont want our efforts undone.

I need good legal advice as to best respond to NCO, and then to engage The authorities in the FTC, US Postal, attorney general, etc. Are there any lawyers interested in a class action case?

Extortion and Blackmail

That's exactly what this is. I was also hit with NCO and still being plagued by them as well. You may also be the victim of Identity theft.

1.) File two reports with Federal Trade Commission about them: Identity Theft, the other for Comsumer problems.
2.) File with FBI
3.) File a complaint with the United States Treasury Department.

Start contacting your Congressmen and state representatives for a "Credit Freeze". Flood their offices with phone calls, emails and letters. The Credit freeze will stop any and everybody from obtaining your information or looking into your credit file. You the consumer would have the capacity to control who gains access, not the Credit Bureaus. Only 5 states have this as a protection for their citizens. More information about credit freezing is available online.

These are financial terrorists and should be treated as such.

Thomas,

If NCO is attempting to collect a debt that is bogus, protected by previous bankruptcy and/or one that is past the statute of limitations, they could be breaking the law. The only way to get the FTC and/or the attorney general's office to investigate is if enough people complain, making the company a public nuisance. So, please, file a complaint with both organizations.

Best,
