I heard the advertising and decided I would give Netscape a chance to win my business. The service was ok but I didn't use it a lot and went to cancel my subscription after about six months. Not knowing the best method to use for cancellation I decided to call them. I was told I cannot cancel the service over the phone and I must use the internet.

I went to my account and promptly filled out the cancellation form. I watched as the successful submission message to appear. I assumed all went well and my account would be closed. Wrong! I found Netscape charges on my credit card the following week for another month of service I did not want. The tip off here is that there was no confirmation email sent out to me.

I called right away and talked with some youngster in India who told me I could not cancel my account over the internet and explained that I had to call to cancel. I tried to talk to his supervisor but of course there was no supervisor. I went through the routine with him and got a cancellation confirmation number. Now it is time to go to my bank and make sure they know Netscape longer authorized to take money from my account.

I wish I had had a voice recorder to document their bad business practices. I was asked if I wanted some Netscape offers to restart my service. I told them I was not interested, and neither are my friends. They may have gotten my $10, but I am out to stop at least 100 people from using their service for one year. That would equate to $120,000 in lost revenue for Netscape. Who is the real looser in this case?

I was able to make them see the bad business side of what they are doing

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 11, 2006

After another phone conversation, I was able to make them see the bad business side of what they are doing. They did refund my last month service fees. If you are having trouble, keep after them. They will make things right.
