Everyone needs to stay far, far away from North American Bancard.  As a business owner I recently found myself in a position where I needed to start accepting credit cards on remote location.  I have not had to do this in the past and did a little research and decided to give North American Bancard a try.  Big Mistake.

I called into their main phone number and spoke with an individual named Chris Jenish.  He proceded to pull the wool over my eyes.  I explained that I was in need of a terminal that allowed me to make credit card sales on location with my customers and proceded to sell me a full service wireless terminal.

Here is where the fun comes in.  I asked him multiple times if there was a PCI fee and he said no.  I asked him multiple times if there is a minimum and he said no.  I also asked him multiple times if there was any type of contract and he said no as well.  After he answered the questions the way he did I asked to see the contract before moving forward.  He explained everything is on line and I could review the prices before finishing the application.

So into the online app we go.  For some reason they want your social security number, tax ID number and bank info before showing you the prices.  We finally get to the pricing page and print out the section showing 0.00 for minimum and there is nothing listed at all for any type of PCI fee.  I notice looking over the terms it says 3 year agreement but he again assures me that because he is a corporate employee he is waiving this term.  So we complete the contract.

Fast forward 1 month.  I only used the terminal a bit simply because I was just ramping up my mobile sales.  Well come to find out there is indeed a minimum despite me having a print out from this online application showing 0.00 for monthly minimum.  There is also a nice notice on the electronic statement saying there will be a 99.00 PCI even though Mr. Chris Jenish claimed there would not be.

When I attempted to contact Chris Jenish he would dodge my calls and send me to his voicemail that states to call so and so for billing issues.  Well Mr. Jenish I would not have a billing issue if you did not lie to me in the first place.

1 more fun fact.  Even though Mr Chris Jenish stated there would be no commitment and I could cancel at any time, when I finally got ahold of their customer service department, I was told if I did not close within 45 days I would be locked in for 3 years with a 1200 cancellation fee.

Again stay far, far away from North American Bancard and far, far away from Chris Jenish unless you are looking to be lied to just so someone can make a sale!

North American Bancard overcharges

AUTHOR: James - ()

POSTED: Thursday, June 27, 2013

Here is how to protect yourself from these kinds of things happening......ALL merchant account companies charge PCI fees - they just differ, all charge some kind of minimum fee, again, they all differ.....But the safe way to make sure you are getting the best and right deal is to deal with a LOCAL representative!  I have placed  merchant machines for 3 different companies and one of them is North America Bancard.....I set the contract in place, I made sure the merchant knew  EVERYTHING about the contract and even told the merchants where I lived, gave them my CELL phone number.....So, I live in my town, work in my town....and if any of my merchants have a problem, and honestly, sometimes there are some that come up....they can  get me or come to my house if I don't answer....Don't deal online, and don't deal with somebody by phone, and you will never have a problem that can't be resolved....
