During my 6 month redemption period (Michigan) I attempted to redeem my house that had been sold at a Sheriff Sale. I lined up financing to save this home for myself and 2 small children. Everything was going as planned until I called Ocwen to try and get in touch with their 'Redemption Department' to get a payoff amount.

I called numerous times and typically I was routed overseas and these folks always told me that they would either leave a message with the 'redemption department' or they would try and connect me. Neither ever happened.

After days and days of attempting to get someone at Ocwen to explain to me that steps that they wanted me to take and the payoff amount (to no avail) I reached the point of the expiration of the 6 month redemption period. I then contacted the attorney's office and formally requested an extension of 48 hours so that they could get to me the final numbers. THEY DENIED IT and kept sending me information stating that my request for a Short Sale was denied. I never requested a short sale.

Ironically, they did contact me the day after the redemption period expired to tell me that my Short Sale was not approved. Again, I did not ask for a short sale--I only wanted to keep my home. I asked the woman on the phone if I could speak to their Redemption Department. She seemed confused, attempted to transfer me (I think) only to be hung up on.

Ocwen DOES NOT want you to redeem your house. They purposely ignore your calls, claim to have a 'redemption department' just so they can delay your opportunity to redeem your house.

I emailed the board of directors and finally received an email back from someone by the name 'Cole Kent' from West Palm Beach, Florida. He supposedly works in the 'executive office'. All he said to me was that they have decided to take the house back because "I had my chance to keep it, but they had to go to a Sheriff Sale" so I 'should understand Ocwen's frustration'.

Cole Kent also admitted that there IS NOT A REDEMPTION DEPARTMENT but simply an appointed 'liason' person. Really? So all this time I've been lied to? I could never get through to Ocwen to their 'redemption department' because there was none!

Michigander kicked out on the street.
