I signed up for PeoplePCOnline on Feb 23,06 and cancelled on Mar 2,06.

In that short period of time, PPC used a long distance number to dialup the internet, every single time I was online. Even though I had at least 8 local numbers chosen.

My phone company ATT, to which I only had local service for, charged me over $300.00 for those few days, and no one will take responsibility for this. Peoplepc.com claims that I chose that number and they have nothing to do with what number is chosen to dial the internet, and it is my own fault, because they warn everyone to check with the phone company first to make sure the numbers are local. I did not check with the phone company because I have always been aware that a call to San Jose, from where I live, would be considered long distance.

I do not know how this long distance access number was put into my choices, but even if I did inadvertantly check that box for that particular number, there is no reason why it should have not dialed my chosen local numbers first, especially since I had 8 of them checked!

Furthermore, I had initially ordered the ISP with the first month free, and cancelled my service within 1 week of starting it, yet they have charged my credit card the full 6 month amount and won't take that charge off and credit my account even though I had used them for only 1 week into my 30 day trial period!

AUTHOR: Christine - (U.S.A.)

Although my original complaint has yet to be resolved, People PC, after several phone calls and many mins on hold, finally refunded my full amount to my credit card. I wanted to let people know that with diligence, you can see some results with this company.

That's A Good Story, I'd Stick With That

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

That's a good story, I'd stick with it. Signed up with peoplepc a couple months ago. Don't know how many times it said it, but it said it numerous times, that if you're not sure, to check with your phone company to make sure the numbers weren't long distance. So I guess that makes YOU responsible for all long distance charges. I also find it odd that you canceled after only one week, on a 30 day free trial. I had a couple of problems getting started which they were glad to help me work through. A bit hard to understand. but for $9 a month I'm not gonna complain a whole lot.
