Regis corporation SmartStyle Violates NYS labor laws, corrupt management and neglectful to stylists Minneapolis Minnesota
I am a full time University student who also has work two jobs well employed with Regis. I have worked with Regis for near close to two years. I was hired by the previous regional director of my Donna m. I fed and met her at a college organization on corporate business she was a very positive and bright woman who offered me a position as a area supervisor for the Regis subdivision smart style. I took it. I was hired off of a contract and with the exception of my extracurricular activities while working full-time for Regis. I was given budgets and goals to complete with a handbook. I worked on the floor and also behind phone and email. I was allowed to do overtime of which needed to be done my district was in lack of employees and needed much good leadership for almost every location. It seemed that every salon store had numerous deep rooted problems but nonetheless within a year and a half I had so many issues I had a united in InSync team networked together I had a good relationship with my supervisor and my stylists. Production was in the green and I had very few problems during that time. Unannounced my company was restructured and several managers lost their jobs without any pre-notice. All the subdivisions considered in the bucket were merged together merging all management and staff together. I was in lead of a promotion, interviewed twice by corporate officials from Regis of which I had never heard back from till I was demoted to a store manager. I was replaced by and unskilled on educated district leader who had no formal knowledge of her current position. She was a new store manager also who for six years had had many complaints and a negative impacted image upon her. This happened within June 2013. This woman Angela Barnes began dictating and Tyrranding, bullying stylist and managers around. She would walk into the store and yell and scream at stylist who had nothing to do in completed their list of daily obligations. She has discriminated against single individuals who have no kids and also due to their gender. In my seven years of being a hairstylist in my last two years of being a manager and supervisor for this company I had never witnessed seen or heard of such a person like this woman. My staff and I couldn't believe as we watched this woman Persue in defying the New York State labor laws that are current and put people on shifts for two hours or three hours and change their schedules the day before they even worked in new that they had to come in. I witnessed her setting up managers for failure in trying to replace them with people who are not qualified for the position to run a staff. I was working six days a week and was making overtime when I shouldn't have been. on my day off I would be called into work and fired if I don't show up. After six weeks of witnessing this woman's behavior in unprofessionalism, in regards to the multiple threats of termination being written up for not servicing clients while on our mandatory breaks and having to work without clocking in and receiving pay. together my district of employees wrote a letter to our new regional director and concerns of Angela Barnes I'm professional behaviors. That did no good and no changes were made. Because I am the one who sent the letter out I was healthfully accountable for retaliating against Angela Barnes is unprofessional and bad mandatory all skills. After that I was written up for false complaints that were not documented over the phone by corporate but by "" in person from Angela Barnes. Had very few complaints ever in my near two years of employment with the reach us and had six outstanding awards for customer service by the last VP John Fraser. By October 15 I was terminated again for "" condoct by Angela Barnes and was documented with false accusations/documentation and bad conduct that of which could be viewed have been with the security camera station on my salon 24/7, showing the complaints false. My regional director failed several times to ease this situation that occurred during the first few months of Angela Barnes supervision. I have several emails from back and forth with Angela Barnes showing the reasons of my termination prior to being terminated false. I do believe that I was fired in retaliation and concern to this woman breaking New York State laws. There are many other Regis employees that would agree with this statement that Angela Barnes is not a good manager or supervisor over any salon manager or stylist let alone herself. I have called the employee relations manager from Regis who read to me the false documentation from my termination then I faxed her my documentation proving the statements false. She apologized to me for what had gone through but said I had no guarantee on getting my position back in Regis and that an investigation with internally would go through. I feel as though I should file a lawsuit for the numerous violations and criminal actions going on within this company. I feel for every stylist in my district who now has to deal with this tyrant running amok in mockery of what was once a good company with supervisors that were great leaders who honored Regis's mission statement vision and values. There is no employee longevity or loyality because of people like her and bad directors as such reported. With fear lurking on each shoulder by every stylist how does this company think that they can service clientele 101% effectively with the major issues and concerns as such stated!? I do believe that these people who have no accountability or moral fiber are what causes cancer in the workforce and what was once Regis a very good company.
