I have had problems from day 1 from this store. They were a no show for my initial delivery. I would receive calls at work stating that I missed a payment when I in fact made it. RAC people show up at my door, telling me I owe one amount, only to be back 2 days later to say they were wrong - I owe more. When I called the manager he said I was fine, I didn't owe anthing and to disregard it. Then his people would be back at my door a day later with a new amount. They now call my parents in Florida telling them on a daily basis that I owe money, which is violation of my rights. Someone has to do something. If it weren't for the fact that my kids need their beds, I would tell these people to take it back.

#6 Consumer Comment
Don't you RAC employees comprehend anything you read?

I'm getting a little tired of hearing about RAC policies. It's been spelled out a million times but you don't get it. RAC stores getting complaints are obviously not following the rules. Maybe this doesn't pertain to the store you work at, good for you! That doesn't mean this complaint is b/s. I live in another part of California and guess what? The store I dealt with here in Santa Maria violated "policy" as well as several laws in regards to excessive charges, "the club", harrassment, breach of contract and fraud to name a few.
When RAC employees dispute the complaints on here, they only look a fool. Especially when they say "everything is on the contract". Consumers know what the contract states. Like you, we make the mistake of believing that all RAC stores only do what is within their right to do. Only after I became fed up with excuses did I research the law surrounding rental purchase transactions in CA. That's when I discovered that RAC was robbing the hell out of me and who knows how many other customers. The formula for calculating prices for merchandise is very simple but why doesn't RAC put that in the contract? I'll let you figure that one out since you all think you know everything about RAC.

Of course this my side of the story!!

You know, I just stated what happened to me. I didn't embellish, or leave out anything. And I don't have to prove myself to anyone. People can read this and have a choice - to give deeper thought to a decision to deal with these people, or discard my experiences. But come on - is this what you call a rebuttal? To attack the author without a viable argument? Besides, this happened a couple of years ago. This same office has since closed down. Move on, because I will not be responding further. I won't even be reading it.

Are you sure that's not just YOUR SIDE OF THE STORY?

Sometimes a story sounds one way when only one person tells them. There are processes as well as information which is not on a STORE ONLY process. Very strict guidelines always must be applied especially when dealing with a contracted item and personal information. I'm certain you signed a contract in regards to this and if you really had a problem, you would have contacted Home Office in which the Telephone # is boldly posted in the Store as well as on every Truck you see go down the road. There are too many flaws in your side of the story for it to be entirely true.

PAY YOUR BILL

I am not sure what it is like at the store you rent from but at my store when you actualy pay your bill your name comes off the past due list which means we don't even think about the customer unless there is a problem they come to us with. we only call refrences when you are 4 or more days past due and it is company policy to tell references nothing more than "I have not beenable to get ahold of the customer would you give them a message." pay your bill and you will not get the extra phone calls

You should do something

If you want something done, you need to act yourself. It is illegal for RAC to call your relatives and tell them you owe money. They probably aren't going quite that far, but I definitely do not doubt they are trying to embarrass you by contacting them. That's how Rent-A-Center works it's collections.
You made the comment someone should do something. Call the district attorney's office in the state you live in and let them him/her know Rent-A-Center violating your rights.
