Safe Touch Security Systems Also SafeTouch Of Tallahassee Security System ripoff: Sold house 4 yrs ago, security system still billing Jacksonville Florida

Contracted for home security system in 2001 for $967.28 (financed through Wells Fargo) for equipment and monitoring. Sold house in 2003, paid off equipment upon sale of home, contacted SafeTouch (by phone) to inform them of sale. Nothing was mentioned about the contract, return of software or continued monitoring.

4 years later, I receive correspondence from an attorney's office based out of Illinois, working as a collection agent stating I owe $842.48 for software and monitoring. They said the contract renews itself automatically and if I did not inform SafeTouch by mail that I have sold the house and would like to cancel my contract, it is still in effect.

I requested a copy of the contract and it took them 3 months to send only the first page. I have requested the rest of the contract, they said they would provide it, but payment is due in full within 5 days of receipt.

It just really sounds and feels like a total ripoff.
