Shasta Pools, QuikChlor Chlorinator replacement, basically unavailable Phoenix Arizona

I purchased a Shasta pool three years ago, deciding to spend the extra money for a quality pool. I liked the idea of have a 30 year warranty on the pump or so I thought.

Over the last year, the chlorinator readout kept telling me it was low, so when I called for service, they told me the cartridge was bad and that it should be replaced. After spending $30K on a basic pool, I figured the cartridge would be under a $100. Wrong again my friend.

Here's what really ticks me off; Shasta's response was we don't use that filter system anymore. "We switched to a better one." So in three years, the technology has supposedly increased that much? The girl I talked to related it to a computer; give me a break. Computers don't cost $30K and aren't warrantied for life. (They do however last longer than the filter) They did give me a company that sells the replacement but it costs nearly $800.

If this isn't a crooked business practice, I don't know what is. I looked in my Shasta Handbook they gave me and the warranties and equipment section are empty. Basically the whole book is, except for the crap about maintaining, fun and games and cruising through pool care.

In that book, it doesn't make mention of the pool chlorinator at all. I've tried looking for the filter online but it doesn't seem to exist, however, I did find the QuikChlor website and they're located in Phoenix. Imagine that, the two crooks working together to rip their customers off even more.

If I were building a pool today and knew how Shasta ran their little crooked organization, I would refrain at all costs. There's a ton of builders out there that can build for $10K less; I would look at all of the available builders. Shasta is nothing more than a pool basket full of roaches!
