I contacted Shasta Pools to get a price quote on some different setups for our backyard because me and my wife were interested in having a pool installed at our house.I made initial contact in June 2015, however me and the Salesman Robert Kochuten thought it would be best to meet and discuss arrangements again when my wife arrived back from Germany.
I received a Phone call from Robert telling me that he has priced out the options we discussed and that there would be a requirement of a 500 dollar deposit to lock in the price, I asked Robert atleast 3 times on the phone if this was refundable because I was not even sure if I was going to go through with the project or not and Robert told me it was. He seemed liked a great salesman and was really concerned with what we wanted, finally some time went by and my wife arrived and I spoke with Robert via telephone and he said it would be a good idea if we all got together and met up with my wife present and he would let me know when he was available which he never did, I told Robert we were still shopping around and I am not sure if we will go with his setup or not and he said no problem just let him know. The whole time I believed my 500 dollar deposit would be refunded, no problem. Robert sent over a contract and honestly I signed it in good faith because he seemed very honest, I did mention that it was strange that I was signing a contract when we havent even agreed on a final design but he said its just a formality and things can be adjusted later so I took his word on it.
I feel extremely betrayed
I would like my 500 dollars back because Robert did tell me that it was refundable more then once. Who would pay a non refundable deposit on work they weren't even sure they wanted? Who would pay a deposit and be offered a contract when the design wasnt even complete?
I feel like I was strung along and at the end of the day I just want my deposit back and we end it there.I hope Shasta Pools decides to do the right thing, I called to complaint and was told someone would call me back which never happened, I wrote Robert who gave me a robotic response but he knows that he lied, I will make sure that I post my experience everywhere I can because not only am I a veteran, I am a retired disabled veteran and I will warn veterans associations as well about the practices of Robert, I hope he is not a reflection of Shasta Pools as a whole and I hope that giving me back my 500 dollars (being the moral thing to do) would be the course of action that Shasta decides to take just because its the right thing to do.
Do the right thing and just refund my money...

I am a disabled vet with 3 traumatic brain injuries from 5 combat tours, PTSD, and a whole list of other issues, who spent the majority of his adult life in the military where your word is your word, I just left the military the same month I met this guy so I am not used to swindlers and liars, usually people keep their word, not only that but I spent the majority of my career in Europe (Germany) where Germans wont even take your money if they cant assure you they will do good work. Coming back America has been a culture shock for me and my wife who is German. I am not stupid, or an idiot, its sad that being trusting makes someone stupid or an idiot, it says alot about the sales men when even you said he played me, someone who wants to sell me over 30k in work will rob me of 500?
This report is fitting because it speaks to the character of this salesman, and the nature of how he does business. It is a rip off if I tell you one thing and do another. A liar is a swindler and a rip off. Please do not insult me on this report. I never thought my own country would be a culture shock and dishonesty was the way of life when I spent the last several years of my adult hood being having INTEGRITY drilled into my head.

YOU freely admitted here YOU signed a contract when there wasn't even a final design for the project! Just how smart is that! This guy read you like a book. He had you eating out of his hand! Signing a contract you didn't read for a project which was even detailed in the contract??? You've got to be joking here? Is this a REAL report or are you auditioning for the comedy club??? This guy said "its JUST a formality"! If its "just" a formality, why do you need to do it? What does "formality" mean? You tell him, "**** no I'm not signing a contract without any details listed!" I can't possibly believe an adult would do such a stupid thing! So thank you tremendously for the laughs and I hope you do well with your comedy gig! I'll be watching for you on TV!!!
