I recently returned a leased Chevy to Nissan and leased a 2006 Nissan car. The saleswoman was VERY enthusiastic and told me she would take back my old leased Chevy and pay for the last three payments (total of $ 800.00 on it) AND would pay for my over mileage which came to just over $ 900.00. Since this was the best offer I got from all the car dealers I visited today I agreed. The saleswoman gave me a price for the new 2006 Nissan and I made a counter offer. Naturally off she went to her manager and came back with a yes. I signed the papers and left with my new car all happy.

About two weeks later I get a call from the leasing company from my old Chevy and they say they are sending me an invoice for over mileage and damage. I was really upset and when I received it in the mail since it was about $ 1500.00. I can understand the small scratch I would have to pay for but NOT the over mileage which Nissan TOLD me they would cover!

I start calling Nissan and check my papers and OF COURSE the saleswoman didn't write down that NISSAN was paying the extra mileage. She also didn't remember that discussion! She said maybe they could pay half of the $ 900.00 but when she asked her manager he said no.

After about a month of phone calls, many unanswered, I paid the leasing company the total of $ 1500.00. The leasing company sympathized with me telling me it's not the first he has heard of this situation by what he called an overzealous sales person. Personally I call it a scam, a rip-off etcMy last call the Nissan remains unanswered so I am now sending out my complaints to whoever I can.

I totally understand I should have made sure all of this was in writing but I guess the excitement of purchasing a new car had left me unaware. My last phone call to the saleswoman she told me we NEVER pay off extra mileage. It seems to me that promises were made to me, the customer that they would not abide by. I realize that car dealers will do ANYTHING to get you to purchase a car but this is going too far. I guess next time I purchase a car I should bring a lawyer along to make sure all the documents are correct before the sale person tries to rip off yet another customer.

Don't Need A Lawyer - If a car guys lips are moving he/she is lying.

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 11, 2006

You don't need a lawyer. You can do it yourself. Just read everything and GET IT IN WRITING. Almost the same thing happened to me with jordon ford. The only difference was I didn't go for it. You might as well have kept the chevy, you ended up paying for the last three months and didn't drive it. That was your fault for turning it in three months early. I know, you get the itch. I've found that if the leased car company "thinks" you're going to buy/lease another vehicle from them they tend to not nickle and dime you on damages. Get them to sign off on the leased vehicle and then go your way. You start with a clean slate. If you've bought from someone else, they don't care and will screw you to the max. Just remember the old saying: If a car guys lips are moving he/she is lying.
