I have always paid by payments on line. When I recevied a letter from SST stating my payment on line did not go through due to a wrong account # was listed on line. Not only did this make my payment late, but when I checked my account on line it was correct.
When I called their 800 # it took many tries to finally get someone on the phone. Person was so rude I could not belive it. She said if I would have put the #'s in correctly then this would not be a problem. We went back and forth for awhile. Finally, she said she would remove the late fee but since I had been late before she would never do it again.
I was surprised about the latness. I have never been late. She said I was late in January. I told her I could prove that was not so. She got very nasty. After (so she said) removing the late fee she asked if I wanted to make a payment of $100.00 to bring the account up to date and to keep it open. I know that is not my normal monthly payment ($34.00). I questioned her on that and she that included my May payment as well. Still incorrect. She did not have an answare why the amount was so different. I needed to get off the phone because I was at my office.
I agreed to pay what was due now and I would take care of next month when the statement came. I paid what was due and more. Then there was the $10.00 fee to make the payment over the phone. I told her that this was crazy. She replied "your luck I am removing the late fee".I paid!!
As I thought about it, I called again. I asked to be transfered to their legal or compliance office instead I got a very unprofessional manager by the name of Kimberly (refused her last name). Again, Kimberly proceeded to tell me the entire story all over again, including this was all my fault. I said that was not why I was calling, I just wanted to be transferred.
Kimberly said we don't have a Legal department and the only way to get in touch with anyone is to writ a letter. As she started to give me the PO BOX #, I tried to interrupt by saying that is not what I want. Kimberly continued to give the address over me my voice.
I asked for my account be closed. She said that would be good. She kept saying I dont have to remove those late fees. When the conversation was going no where, I asked if the late fees were removed. She refused to give me an response. She just she didnt really have to do it.
So, now I hope the account is closed and have no idea if they removed the fees or not. You cannot get in touch with anyone in authority because you are blocked. Kimberly refused to tranfer me when I asked for her superior.
I am really worried about this account. It is now closed but I wonder if they will raise the APR on me. I cannot pay the account in full at this time.
MY ADVISE, CLOSE AND PAYOFF YOUR SST CARD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WE WILL BE READING ABOUT THEIR RIP OFF PRACTICES SOON.
