Our 1970 Bel Air was totaled State Farm conveniently lost the declared vaule we had on her. Bel was a member of our family for 8 yrs. State Farm switched drivers on our cars I drive a 1976 Chey Nova Concours my baby of 23 years. State Farm switched me & my husbands birthdates. Raised the deductable on the house, we found out after the hail damage. Changed the policy on the Nova to just liability. Agent caught that. I find these things out when I file a claim. All mistakes are in State Farms favor. I changed agents once being told they where responsible, I now know it is coming from regional office Johns Creek In Duluth Ga. Which is condensending to me says problems are fixed yet are not. Kent Bowers Is a bad man boss Lamar Cannon sticks by him. HQ in Bloomington Ill. Ted Loy won't address problems. I'm leaving for AARP or Amica. Looking to go to sleep & wake up with the same policy I started with. Classic car owners Beware. State farm says they are a paperless office your file only exisits on a unreliable computer with a 2 yr old at controls.

Declared value is a misnomer. Declared value means only that the company can pay up to that value, it's still an actual cash value policy. Say you declare a value at $30,000.00, if the value of your vehicle is ony $20,000.00 that's what the company owes you. On the other hand, if you declare a value of $30,000.00 and the value is $40,000.00 then all they owe you is $30,000.
It is very important to have your classic car appraied by a qualified appraiser that is schooled in classic cars. I don't know the particular practice of this company in changing policies, but hope this helps you understand that you were probably paid that real value of your vehicle.
