State of New Jersey Placed a moratorium on my property and made it permenant. Trenton, New Jersey
*Consumer Comment: Unfortunate but...
In the 60s new Jersey said they wanted to buy land in the pinelands for an airport. So I bought 17 acres. Shortly after that they created a moratorium on building in the pine lands making my property almost worthless. Now we are in 2011 and they still have their moritorium and it appears to be permenant. I am 74 years old and I am stuck with the taxes and a worthless property.

Unfortunate but...

That's what can happen with real estate investments. It's even more risky when folks speculate by purchasing what appears to be "useless" land (at the time of purchase.)
I don't understand why you've held the land for over 40 years based on a speculated development of an airport.
I know it's poor consolation to you, but many folks have had similar incidents with land in the Adirondack Park-especially after the formation of the Adirondack Park Agency.
Perhaps it's time to cut your losses and unload this "worthless" 17 acres.
