This is a warning to anyone thinking about working for Stevens Transport.
Beware of the Recruiters lies.
The recruiter will tell you you are paid for "all miles driven loaded or unloaded". FALSE!!! Your mileage is paid post office to post office. So if your beginning point is say 10 miles east of 1 post office and your ending point is say 10 miles west of the 2nd post office, then you DO NOT get paid for those 20 miles.
Your recruiter will tell you that you paid for training. They DO NOT TELL YOU that you do not get paid for orientation whick is anywhere from 5 days or longer.
Your recruiter will tell you that they have a great insurance plan. If you consider a PPO Plan with a maximum out of pocket of $10,000 per year a great plan, good luck to you.
These are just a few of the lies that you will hear when dealing with the recruiting staff at Stevens Transport. I just don't have the time to sit here typing for the next several hours to recap all of the BS you will hear from them.
STAY AWAY FROM STEVENS TRANSPORT. YOU'VE HAD FAIR WARNING.

THE ONES IN THIS SIT THAT SAY JUNK ABOUT STEVENS ARE THE ONES THAT WILL SAY JUNK ABOUT EVERY TRUCKING COMPANY OUT THERE BECAUSE THEY ARE A MISFIT - POOR BUSINESS PERSON AND SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN INTO THE BUSINESS PERIOD.
I HAVE HAD EXCELLENT RESULTS FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS AT STEVENS. THEIR RECRUITERS ARE STRAIGHT FORWARD, INFACT THEY TELL YOU TO GO TALK TO DRIVERS AT TRUCK STOPS. I GRADUATED FROM THEIR SCHOOL IN COLORADO - CAREERS WORLD WIDE OF KEENESBURG. EXCELLENT SCHOOL - EXCELLENT STAFF - GO THERE IF YOU NEED TRAINING.
I THOUGHT YOU NEEDED A POSITIVE REPORT - CALL STEVENS - GOOD COMPANY

Jim Potter the biggest liar

I was told by a certain recruiter in the Atlanta area that I didn't have to get a loan for my cdl. All that was required of me was to stick with Stevens for 1 year and during that year they would take about $30-$40 out of my check. After that year I could leave and not have to worry about anymore money being taken out of my check, lie. Also he stated that after 1 year of service with Stevens I can drive a dedicated route in my area, lie. I decide to work for Stevens and quit my job to start a new career in trucking, not knowing that the recruiter was lying to me all along. When I get to Stevens this arrogant dude named Ariel in the finance dept said that there was a loan we had to take out to get our cdl ..whoa a loan no one said anything about a loan. I asked how much is this loan for, he said $5900. Wow, FREAKING $5900.. now Im stuck like chuck in mesquite. I quit my job where I was making decent money, over $500 a week to be exact. I was in a rock and a hard place with no job and was lied to. I decided that I would have to stick with this company since I had no job to return to. Well I didn't want to sign any paper work, knowing what I already new about loans. I don't know if God or a greater power was looking out for me, because I never signed for a loan and still got my cdl. I avoided the recruitment dept at all cost while I was there. Karma is a mother when you do wrong to someone...thank you stevens for my free license!

I am considering working for stevens. I have checked all the other trucking companies on here some have 200 complaint's out of all trucking companies on this site stevens has less complaint's.
Every business or trucking company has complaint's but steven's has less then all the other's on here, steven's offer's to train you they take out of state student's steven's & marten transport have less complaint's.
Steven's has there own trucking school. I am considering working for steven's I haven't made my mind up yet.

ALL TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE A RIP OFF

Face it, until someone comes in and forces the trucking companies to pay REAL WAGES, they will continue to rip off their employee's. Never drive a truck for a living, its worse than fishing in Alaska for a pay check.

The truck driver's world.
Find me a recruiter from a company that DOESN'T lie. All I'm saying is that it isn't limited to Stevens but I'm in no way condoning the recruiters actions either.
"post office to post office".....? Sorry my friend but that too was a LIE! I like to call them "airplane miles" because it's impossible to make the trip in so many miles quoted or less. The reason the "post office" excuse fails is because sometimes you would get paid MORE miles then you actually drove. About 50/50 actually between getting shorted and getting paid extra. Doesn't work that way. YOU WILL ALWAYS GET SHORTED. This applies to ALLL companies who pay airplane miles and isn't limited to Stevens. Again, I'm not condoning this practice either, obviously, but theres simply no escaping it from any company unless truck drivers unite for some cause.
This should be about as easy as herding cats. Imaginine it, *dreamy smile, rows upon rows of loaded trailers dropped all over the shoulders of the US interstates because truck drivers stopped as soon they completed their paid miles!

Education for "Disgusted in Dallas" regarding trucking company recruiters, and the job itself
AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

First of all, VERY few companies pay actual or "hub" miles. Very rare.
Second, the method of mileage calculation you are speaking of is the most common in the industry, and is not just something that Stevens Transport devised to rip you off.
Third, It is common in the trucking industry for the recruiters to embellish a little to fill the seats that are open. Just like a college recruiter, military recruiter, etc.
Fourth, it is YOUR job to clarify everything before you accept the position.
Ask exactly how the pay is calculated, etc. Ask exactly what you will be paid during training and orientation.
My suggestion to you is to find another line of work as the OTR trucking industry will most likely not work for you. I am familiar with Stevens, and have found them to be an excellent company with the only problem being very long time out compared to hometime. They run you hard.
If you really want to get beat up on and robbed, try Swift, CR England, etc. Then you will really know what it is like to get ripped off and lied to. Guaranteed.
