I bought a timeshare from Summerbay, despite my better judgement. We bought at their Tennessee site in January of 2005. I bought a "foreclosed" timeshare for about half of the retail charge (@$7000). I used their credit offer and paid them in full at the time (making payments to a 3rd party credit company).

It took them 6 weeks or more to send me a followup package. Instead of getting my expected deed, the package stated they erroneously sold me a timeshare that someone else already owned. There was a new application inside. I'm guessing the salesman did that on purpose to get another sale, and then switched out to the next available foreclosure he could get. I suspect that may be illegal, so of course that was not how it was explained to me. I re-signed new forms for them, thinking at the time this was just an error.

My first tax bill was due in 2007. I was sent a bill for both timeshares, even though I only bought and paid for one timeshare. I called the Gatlinburg office, and was referred to another agency. I called them and was referred back. I was then referred to the corporate office who promptly referred me back to the starting point. The bottom line is I have now spoken with 8 or 9 people over the span of 4 months. Each person refers me to another person. After the last couple of exchanges I was assured everything was taken care of, but I got a billing invoice in the mail for the wrong timeshare again. I have left another 2 msgs with member support in the last week and have not been called back. NO ONE here wants to take responsibility. Hey... if I could go in their systems I would correct the issue myself!!! I have a feeling this will end up in collections, even though I have explained my head off, and paid my correct timeshare fee, on time. No one wants to take responsibility and clear this double listing up for me. If they send me to collections I will contact an attorney. I guess I m going to have to start sending registered letters so that I can build a case. No one should have this much trouble over a clerical error. I sincerely wish that I had never bought a timeshare from this outfit due to their unorganized, and could-care-less "it's not my problem" attitude of ALL their staff-- multiple sites. Don't buy a timeshare from this outfit.
