I HAVE TWO ACCOUNTS WITH SUNTRUST. ONE WAS NEGATIVE $-209.73 BECAUSE I STOPPED USING IT AFTER MY CARD GOT STOLEN. THE OTHER WAS FINE. SUNTRUST TRANSFERED THE 209.73 FROM ONE ACCOUNT TO THE OTHER WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE AND BECAUSE OF THIS CAUSED THE ACCOUNT THAT WAS NEGATIVE TO GO TO A ZERO (0) BALANCE AND THE OTHER ACCOUNT TO $-650.00. I TOOK A WHOLE WEEK TALKING TO MULTIPLE REPS OF SUNTRUST TO TRY AND GET THE 15! NSF FEES TAKING OFF THE ACCOUNT BUT NO ONE COULD HELP. ACCORDING TO THEM WHAT THE DID WAS PERFECTLY LEGAL. BUT THE QUESTION IS WAS IT MORALLY CORRECT! THEY CAUSE MY THREE (3) TIMES MORE DEBT BY ONE SILLY UNAUTHORIZED MOVE! I AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING BANKS AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO USE SUNTRUST... NOT EVEN IF THEY PAID YOU TO USE THEM... ITS NICKEL AND DIME CORPORATION!!!!! PLEASE BEWARE!

Questions for you...

Did you contact the bank about the stolen card? Or did you just stop using the account? If you had contacted the bank they could have helped you by stopping the card from being used. Were any of the items that posted causing the overdraft, items charged after the card was stolen? If so, you should have contacted the bank to start a fraud investigation on those charges. Just ignoring a problem like a negative balance does not make it go away.
