The Learning Annex - Learning Annex-NY Almost 1 full yr of trying to get this company to return money they were not given permission to charge for months after I canceled trial rude and illegal New York, New York

I signed up for a trial membership and cancelled a day before it was over by leaving a message at the phone number specified on their website for cancelling.  Someone called back the next day even to confirm the cancellation.

Three months go by and I decide to pay off my credit cards and close accounts that overcharged fees and had high interest. After my account had been closed I received a statement with LEARNING ANNEX on it trying to collect 39.99.  I hadn't been paying attention to my statements and when I looked back at them I found 4 months of TLA fees on my card on a trial membership I cancelled.

That's not the rip off though.  My phone records will act as my evidence if necessary.  I have called this company 6 times since last winter to get this settled and have on each occasion received 6 different nonsense answers with the voice on the other end claiming I would get a check and to wait 2 times for over a month, another time I was told to email my info and I would hear back, I was told they could only authorize 1 chargeback to my account and I would have to call back to talk to this manager or that one.  One time while I was giving my info, the call just straight hung up on me.

I think this company should be ashamed they treat people like they are stupid and waste their time.  I absolutely cannot see how they are still in business.  It may only be $120.00 plus interest at this point, but it is my $120. and if it means going to court I will get my money back.  I have been very nice on the phone and have been treated like dirt and I am over it.  It should be illegal to run your company like some shoddy insurance company that denies claims leaving sick the people they are supposed to protect.  Gross.
