My parents are elderly in their 80's and not in the best of health. My husband went over to clean the snow off their steps and walkways after a recent snow storm. Since they are unable to get out of the home on a regular basis my husband gets their mail, puts out their trash and does odd jobs around the house. For some odd reason my husband decided to check their propane level in the tank. He was amazed to find it read zero.
My Mother called Thrift Propane that day January 25th 2014. She was told they would get a delivery out soon. They had prepaid several hundred dollars previously and thought they were on automatic delivery. When the propane was still not delivered by Monday January 27th she called again. They told her there was no record of her call on Saturday and there was a 7 day wait.
We receuved a phone call on Monday evening stating their house was cold as they had completly ran out of propane. We took over 2 electric space heaters for them to use. Later that night my Mom got hungry and tried to fix herself a cup of soup in the microwave. Not realizing she would overload the breaker box she flipped a circuit. Their breaker box is in the basement. Now remember I told you they were elderly and had trouble getting around. She made her way to the basement and flipped the switch which she thought was the correct one. In doing so she flipped the main breaker and killed the electric to the whole home. Having arthritus in her hands she was not strong enough to flip the breaker back into the on position.
My Father soon had to go to the restroom and dropped the flashlight my Mom has given he. He stumbled and fell on the floor not being strong enough to pull himself back up. My Mom called the Life Squad to help. The Mt Orab Emergency Life Squad responded. They were able to get help my Dad up off the floor and restore the electric to the home. The Life Squad even called Thrity Propane the following day to let them know my Dad is a cardiac patient and has disabetis and on oxygen. They needed their propane now. We were told it would now be another 7-10 days before they would be able to deliver.
The next morning when I found out about the incidence I went over and packed up my partents and brought them to my house to stay for a few days. I myself called Thrifty Propane. I spoke with Tammy several times. I was told that for an emergency amount of $350.00 they could move my parents to the top of the delivery list but it would knock another person out of their delivery for that day. My parents are not rich and could not afford this exuberent amount. Although they had 749 gallons of propane already paid for it could not be delivered.
It is now February 3rd and has been a week today since the second call to Thrifty Propane for delivery. My Mom called them this morning and was put on hold by Sheryl while she checked with the driver to see if a delivery could be made today. After holding for 45 minutes Sheryl still did not respond and left my Mom on hold. We have tried to call back several times and get a recording to leave a message and number and they would get back to you. We have left 2 messages and still have to receive a return call.
I feel Thrifty Propane is taking advantage of an elderly couple who have prepaid their Social Security money for propane and they are failing to deliver the goods. Beware Customers Do Not Deal With Thrifty Propane.

Still Dis-Satisfied With Thrifty

I an not arguing with someone who is obviously an employee of Thrifty Propane. If you put yourself in my place you would have the same concerns. I do not believe there was a shortage of propane. Why when they delivered did they not deliver all the propane they had previously paid for several months in advance? Insead of delivering what was owed to them they only delivered 200 galls which will only last them one month. As they were told they were on automatic delivery they should have never ran out. Thrifty still owes them over 500 gallons.
Hopefully your parents will live long enough so someday you will have concerns about how they are treated by wrongful companies such as Thrifty Propane. Then and only then will you understand my concerns. I am not lazy but I too am retired and should not have to fight to insure my elderly parents are not abused.
Just to let you know I have spoke with another propane company which will be used for future purchases. The driver there advised he would have been fired had he only delivered 200 gallons when they were completely out and had prepaid for 749 galls. So be it. You keep your thoughts to yourself unless you have somthing worth reading or you get a job with a reputable company.

The rebuttal from the company just goes to show what kind of people that we had to deal with during the complaint time. They do not know how to deal with customers and treat them like they are making unreasonable demands. Do not deal with these people. You will be sorry.

It is sad..

It is sad that your parents are going through this but its not Thrift propane that is at fault. YOU are just one out of many that are demanding propane during this time of year. Especially given the severity of THIS winter. Thrify propane DID NOT use up your parents fuel. You can whine all you like and post as many negative reviews as well, it STILL wont change the fact that your parents went through thier propane faster then they usually would. There is a waiting period because so many have used thier propane faster then expected. Why should YOU get more prefered services because you have elderly parents? One would think that if the situation was as dire as you suggested YOU would have stepped in and helped BEFORE they injured themselves.
You need to accept that you and your aged parents are just ONE of the THOUSANDS of customer SCREAMING for more propane. They can only move so fast and they ONLY have so much propane. Thrifty propane is doing what they can to assist all of thier customers not just you. YOU need to address that self entitlment attitude. Just because you are a customer and just because YOU have a issue is no reason to make FAKE posts because youre not getting the service on the time table you demand.
