I purchased my 500 gallon propane tank from Thrifty a few years back. It paid for itself in the first season. Deliveries have always been made within a couple days of placing an order until lately. Their price is usually the best around. It started last winter 2014. I placed an order and was told the standard 5 to 10 business days. I was ok with that because they generally are out in a couple days. This time they were not. My % of propane was now down to below 5%. I called and asked when they would be delivering. They again told me up to 10 days from when I placed my order. Great, just what you want to hear. I saw a Thrifty truck on my road.

I stopped and talked to him. I was not on his schedule and he could not deliver propane to me. I asked him when he was scheduled to deliver to me. He could not tell me. Needless to say I was upset. Two days later overnight I run out of propane. In the morning I borrowed a 20 gallon tank from a friend, have it filled, connect it to my home line around 9:30am. Thrifty Propane delivered to my house that day at 11:00am. I would have not gone to the trouble of getting the spare tank if they knew they were delivering that day. They only delivered 200 gallons as supposedly they were rationing because of a shortage. I immediately called and placed another order. Defeats their purpose of so called rationing.

Flash forward to 20015. I had a fill before Christmas 2014. They delivered 2 days after i ordered. Now it's February and my tank is @ 20%. I place an order on the 14th which they do not receive until the 16th. Days go by with no delivery. I call, email, I call a driver that I spoke to last year. Nobody knows what day they are delivering. " up to 10 business days from when you ordered". Now my tank is below 5 % again. This time I again borrow my friends 20 gallon tank. I disconnect from my main tank and I'm now filling the spare tank every other day until I get my delivery. So now I'm tired of this. They still can't tell me when I will be delivered. Heck, all I want to know is what number I am in your system and how many deliveries you do a day and I can plan this out. Nope.

I call another propane supplier after they responded to my email. I ask their price today. $.05 more a gallon than Thrifty. When can you deliver? Today. I will call you back.

I call Thrifty. I'd like to cancel my delivery. Ok what is your last name? I say they are very quick to cancel. She says" well what can I do, I can take the orders, place the orders, and cancel the orders"  I say " yes you can but you can't tell me when i am being delivered and have no contact with your drivers". So delivery cancelled. I questioned her ability to cancel the order as they can't seem to communicate but she assured me it would be cancelled.

I call the other supplier. Ok it's (((competitor's name redacted))). I place an order @ 9:30am. My tank was full @ 11:00am. Unreal.

Since the time of my previous post Thrifty Propane has been good. They sent me a $50 credit for my troubles with delivery. I now order when my tank is around 35%. Their delivery time has been very prompt. Honestly, I can say they have turned things around and I  continue to use them for my propane.
