About a year ago my brakes went out on my 1998 ford explorer I took it to Tire Kingdom. After inspecting my vehicle they to me I needed brake pads, rear drum, rotors front and rear , calipers front and rear, alignment, balancing 2 new tires. All this for a total of 1607.00. I couldn't afford that out of pocket, but desperately need my car. I went to the bank and took out a high interest loan to pay for the repairs, as I was in desperate need of my vehicle. I gave them the check, and about 45 mins later they were done.It ended up costing me around 2 thousand when all was said and done.

Recently I have taken an interest in cars, and seem to learn at a rapid rate. I started priceing all the parts out myself to see how much it would have cost myself to have done the same job. When I got to the rear drums for my 98 Exploer I learned that they no longer installed drum brakes on any explorer after 1995, therefore I didn't have what they said they replace. Digging deeper I realized performing all of these task would take longer than 45 mins.

I also remember a few months later I was having issue with the steering my 1996 Chevy Astro. I took it  to tire kingdom again. This time when I arrived they remembered me. While I was waiting the manager remarked to his employee, that he needed to get to me quickly, that I was a "big customer".  At the time I took it as a compliment. They looked at my car and said it would be another 900 for the tire rod end, which I more recently priced at 19 bucks. I did declined the 900 dollar bill and junked the car for 400, thinking I wouldn't get anything for it with a 900 repair needed. I am extremely upset with myself for doing this, now knowing I could have replaced the 19 dollard part myself and sold it easily for at least a thousand because it was in great condition.

Needless to say, they will NEVER recieve my business again. I plead to anyone taking a car to Tire Kingdom, or any service shop to check your specific vehicles specs. I would also suggest marking any item they claim needed to raplace before work is done, and recheck for marks after work is completed.
