I used their website to check compatibility of a phone that my daughter wanted for her 11th birthday. The website said it would work, but I even placed a call to their customer service department and was told the phone would definitely work. So the next day I purchased the phone.

After purchasing the phone for over 100 dollars I also purchased a 25 dollar airtime card. I then called their customer service line to activate the phone. They walked me through their process and charged me a 10 dollar activation fee also. I was told that the phone would be activated and ready to use within the hour.

I waited a little over an hour and still no service, so I called them again and after trying to explain to them that even though their system said the phone had service it did not. I was transferred to 4 different people over the next hour that all said the same thing, until the fifth person finally told me "that phone won't work on our network".

I promptly asked for a refund of my money for the activation fee and the 25 dollar airtime card that i had purchased. I was told "we will refund the activation fee, but we will not give you the 25 dollars for the card unless you buy a phone from us". I told them that I was not going to buy a phone from them.

After refusing to buy a phone from them I was told "we are not going to refund your money, it's walmarts problem". Now as most of you know you cannot get money back from a store for any gift card or airtime card purchased, especially a card that already had the money taken off of it.

The only time I was ever offered a refund was after I filed a complaint with the BBB, after they waited over a month to reply. Well after almost a month and a half I no longer had the airtime card or receipt so they told me that I wasn't going to get my 25 dollars back.

I called and talked to a resolution manager and was told " I can see where you didn't use any of your 25 dollar card, but I'm not authorized to give you your money back". I asked if anybody was authorized and was told absolutely not.

I never asked them for any of the money that I was out of pocket for the phone or any of my time that they had wasted, just the 25 dollar card that they stole.

I Agree Stay Away From Them!

I am a cell phone dealer and the first thing i do is test the service before offering it to the public. Total Wireless is a scam.. i don't know how they got Wal-Mart to approve of selling this crap in their stores. I bought a sim card from Wal-Mart and got online and contacted customer service. but before i did iread all the complaints online about them.(71 complaints i found in all my search on google and that includes the better business bureau) so i was prepared for any tricks they may try to pull. first the lady rep (Her name was Cheryl) checked my IMEI and told me that my verizon unlocked phoine would work on their network. I then proceeded to tell the rep that i read a lot of complaints online and that many people were complaining about reps telling them that their unlocked verizon pbhones would work with the service and as soon as they whip out their credit card and pay online. They soon discover that they cannot get verizon service on their phone. Then what happens is.. they call customer service and they just hang up on them or tell them lies such as " we will have it up in an hour just check your phone after 1 hour" it never happens!  Cheryl never respoinded back on what i said..(by the way we were communicating through online chat customer service) then after 2 -3 minutes of silence she said "I just checked again and your phone will not work with our service. You see at first she said it would work and then she said it wouldn't. Everyone who paid for total wireless never received a refund and the rep told me that if i activated the service there is no refunds. even if it is their fault for telling you that your phone will work and then you pay and find out it won't they will not take any responsibility. Cheryl  never responded back and she just dropped the customer chat line. People do not use this service . Do not be fooled with the luring of advertisment! they will lie to you to get your money and then give you the run around until you exhaust all efforts and they will keep your money. You been warned!! (By the way they never got my money.. i knew it was a rip off after talking with their so called customer service) i belive as the complaints grow Wal-Mart will drop them soon!

 Sorry but ALL prepaid airtime is NON REFUNDABLE!!! Period, end of story. It doesn't matter the circumstances of the situation, NO prepaid airtime is EVER refundable. its understandable to be upset, but YOU CHOSE to go the path you did. Don't hate on THEM because your plan didn't work out. The information THEY had is evidently out of date. THAT is NOT the fault of the CS reps. THEY can only tell you as THEY have been told. At the end of the day YOU WENT CHEAP!!! By doing so YOU CHOSE how this all ends. And that is POORLY!!! The phone itself is STILL USEFUL!!! You will just have to activate it on the network it was INTEDED FOR!! THIS is the cost of what YOU CHOSE to do and nothing more.
