Truecredit.com (by Transunion) offers a monthly monitoring service ($14.95)to protect your credit. I subscribed and then tried to stop the monthly service.

It took me several tries to end the service and the monthly fees continued; how to cancel is not on any of their websites and a phone number is very very difficult to find. When I finally did contact a service rep, I was told the way to cancel was to go to my credit card information and enter all zeroes!

I still cannot find a phone number (domestic USA) to call & lodge my complaint. Their service reps are out of country.

It is clearly a deliberate action on their behalf so that once you start the service it is extremely difficult to end it. You would think that a credit reporting agency (Transunion) would be more forthright and not have to resort to such underhanded tactics to its customers.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

NOT A "rebuttal" But I Know how to cancel!

AUTHOR: Anon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 25, 2008

I feel your pain. I tried calling these folks all day. The ONLY telephone number they give out for cancellation is apparently in India, and only AFTER getting my name so they could aggressivey try to upsell, did they tell me the system was down and they could do nothing - call back in 30 minutes. If a company says cancel anytime, they need to honor that.

I called every thirty minutes from 8 am until 2 pm. Meanwhile I was calling every nu,ber I could think of on the planet. Finally, frustrated with the run around and EVERY other number I called refereed me back to that same number, I filed a complaint with the FTC. I then got the number from some indian for the corporate headquarters of Transunion's PRESIDENT. I left a less than pleasant message with the FTC complaint number and some actually called me back. He gave me another ~sigh~ telephone number - but this one was in California. They also told me the system was down.... GRRR
So I asked that as soon as it was back up, could someone call me immediately so I could canel. Well, as luck would have it, the person who answered told me I could

**log into your account online - change your bill-to card number to all zeros.
That's 16 zeros, change nothing else, Update account**

and that would take care of it.
In the 6 hours that I tried to get something done, no one ever shared that information with me, so I suspect, it is not something that they EVER give out.
So please spread the word!
Thanks for reading my rant,
