Txu has been estimating my bill for 11 months now. around 350 per month. Used to average 180 too 220 a month. I have all transations and payments in money program dating back to 2001. Been with them for 15 years. After they stopped reading my meter I noticed the surge in usage. Dealt with it cause it was minimal I thought. I have never been late and never had it cut off. This month I recieved a bill that once again states it was estimated and it was for the amount 1250.00..They estimated 620.00 for current usage, 330.00 cause they think they under estimated the last 3 months and 300.00 cause they think they under estimated 3 months before that There is no way, I live in a 1500 sq/f house. everyone around me averages 200.00 month..So I pulled up the last 12 monthly payments from my money program and looked at TXU e-bill history online and guess what, the records have been altered.. It appears on there site that I have been underpaying for 6 months..The checks I wrote from thier paper statement and sent in full every month does not match the online statements history. There all falling short and they re-billed me for this. I was told thats what I owe period, with no explanation.

There has to be something I can do. The bill is coming due soon and I cannot afford that. I was complaining at 300.00 a month.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So in a nutshell they quit reading my meter and started over estimating. Then the estimations got higher, then they said they under estimated for past 6 months and tacked this on to a grossly over estimated monthly usage and altered thier records to reflect this for the past 6 months.

The paper statements I have been recieving over the past 6 months, the amount due does not match the online statements now. But they did before. Sound fishy, you bet it does. Something has got to be done. If I actually owed that I would pay as always and would not be writing this. What Can I do..

You are angry at the wrong company

TXU Energy is your retail electric provider. There job is to send electricity to your home or business. In your area, Oncor or (TNMP) Texas New Mexico Power is the (TDSP), or transmission distribution service provider. They are the ones that read your meter as well as provide service to your power lines installation etc. It is legal for the TDSP to make estimations of a customers usage. Unfortunatly, it often results in inaccurate info. So your angry slam on TXU is unwarranted as they just are reporting on your bill what your local TDSP told them about your usage.

I was also a customer of TXU for 20 years. After 2002 Texas passed a bill allowing Texans to choose from a list of new REPs (energy providers). You can go to to see what each REP in your area charges. No matter who you choose the only thing that will change is who bills you!

TXU is under investigation by the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) You can google that for further details.

A friend of mine switched to Stream Gas & Electric and locked in a low rate. I went to her website and switched my own. I noticed a drop in costs.

To add insult to injury, just check your TXU bill and see they charge you $5 a month as a "customer charge" You should not have to pay to be someone's customer buying their product.

Similar problem with TXU partner Green Mountain Energy

I am not with TXU, but I am with Green Mountain Energy, based in Austin, Tx, who contracts TXU to do the meter readings where I live. It really makes me wonder how closely related they are, as my problem is exactly the same.

I have not changed the degree to which I use energy at all in the last 3 years that I've been with Green Mountain, yet, 3 yrs. ago when we had a winter very similar to this year, my highest bill was about $114. This month, my bill is $335, although I keep the thermostat at the same temperature as back then, use the kitchen the same amount, the washer and dryer, televisions, etc. But somehow, my bill has tripled in this amount of time.

I don't know what to do. I know people who have switched to Reliant yet they have exactly the same problem.

What are alternatives to these energy providers. I live in a relatively small apartment (1 bedroom) in Plano and live alone. Yet my bill is astronomical. Is there nothing I can do to counter this brazen profiteering?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. This energy situation is way out of control. TXU, I know, has had record profits this year and last. Gee, I wonder why? This sort of, dare I say, fraud. Ack.

Would love to hear other's comments. Are there any competing energy companies in the Dallas area who are not raising their rates to exorbitant levels?

TXU rip off

I live in Tyler, Texas and TXU has repeatedly ripped off customers in this area. We have a lady on a local TV station, KLTV, channel 7, that has a segment on the local news called, 7 on your side, and she has gotten immediate results from TXU concerning their gross negligence on bills. they even sent a baseball team a $1200 billl last summer and the lights hadnt been turn on all season. so maybe a station in your area has someone like this
