I have been having difficulties leaving tips for my drivers in the app for over a month. When I reached out to the in app support to update my total to leave my drivers a tip, I received an error message and could go no further. This was especially surprising because I had never had an issue tipping in the app before or on Lyft.
The in app support didn’t even seem to read my query because they kept sending the same copy/paste replies on how to tip in the app (I already knew this; the whole reason I was writing was that those steps no longer worked!) or that some drivers opted out of tips (I checked with my drivers and they gratefully accepted).
After this needless frustration, I posted my screenshots and experience on their Facebook page. From there, I was elevated to a team that did read my issue... and then did nothing else since. I have been waiting over a month to have this fixed, but the repeated answers this time are now either one of the following:
A) That they have sent the matter to another team to handle and they will update me as soon as possible.
B) Issues are handled on a first come, first served basis. With those answers as my options, I have to conclude that they don’t have a team capable of identifying or fixing the glitch and/or they have so many rider problems that waiting at least a month is just to be expected.
Either one reflects terribly on Uber. I can’t help but think that if they cared about their drivers being compensated, there would be a stronger sense of urgency. It’s frustrating enough as a rider to not have Uber care about this. It has to be even worse to be a driver where your payment is too hard of a problem to get around solving. So far, Lyft hasn’t given me anywhere near this irritation.
