In 2001, I leased a 1998 Jeep Cherokee from US Bank. At the end of the lease, US Bank tried to assess excess wear and tear charges on a 6-year old vehicle that looked practically new. When I turned in the Jeep Cherokee to the dealership that it was leased from in 2004, an employee at the dealership brought the Jeep from US Bank that day, before I left the premises, because it was in such great condition.

I have an independent inspection report from a reputable body repair shop in my area to support my claims. I disputed all billing statements from US Bank and subsequently my attorney disputed them. US Bank then sent my account to a collection agency called Denovus Corporation, LTD and I disputed the claim with them. Denovus Corporation in turn sent the claim back to US Bank stating they had ceased collection efforts on my account.

I thought that maybe this would put an end to the situation. I received on more piece of correspondence from US Bank stating, "We have told a credit bureau about a late payment, missed payment or other default on your account. This information may be reflected in your credit report." This letter was sent to me on November 30, 2004.

For four years, this claim on my credit report had not really been a issue. However, a few months ago, my husband tried to get a loan for a new car and was turned down because of this claim from US Bank. So in September of 2008, I filed the proper paperwork to dispute inaccurate information on your credit report with the three standard credit bureaus. I think this actually made matters worse. They determined my problem was identify theft and made it hard for me to do anything with regard to credit.

Last week my husband and I applied for a home equity loan with our bank of many years and was turned down because of this claim by US Bank and told that our credit scores were 619 and 669. We have always had excellent credit all of our adult lives and have never been late on any payments. This is the only mark on our credit and it is a FRAUDULENT claim made by US Bank.

I cannot believe that US Bank can simply report a fraudulent claim to the credit bureau without the claim being validated in some way. I was hoping they would sue me, because I knew I would win and they did too, and that is why they took the route they did. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT CROOKS!!

Last week I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I believe a class action suit should be brought against US Bank and would be willing to do whatever it takes to make this happen. I have all of my documentation, written testimony and photographs to support my claim.
